How much power does the VF ECU Software for 982 718 GTS 4.0 add?

VF Engineering quotes 435 hp and 325 lb-ft from its ECU Software for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0 models, gains of 41 hp and 16 lb-ft over the factory 394 hp and 309 lb-ft of the 4.0 liter flat six.

Does the software fit the earlier 718 GTS?

No. The 718 GTS sold before the 4.0 arrived used a 2.5 liter turbocharged flat four, and VF Engineering writes a separate calibration for it. This listing applies only to the naturally aspirated 4.0 liter GTS models. Each is sold as its own listing.

How is the 718 GTS 4.0 software installed?

VF Engineering installs the calibration at its Anaheim facility in Southern California or through an authorized VF dealer. Bulletproof Automotive coordinates the appointment with VF after the order is placed, and nothing is added to the car or changed in its appearance.

Does it work with both the manual and PDK?

The calibration works on the engine and VF Engineering lists it for the 718 GTS 4.0 without restriction by gearbox. The six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK keeps its factory behavior while the flat six pulls harder toward the limiter. Clutch and gearbox hardware are unchanged.

Does the software fit the 718 Spyder or GT4?

No. VF Engineering lists this calibration for the Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0 only. The Spyder and GT4 use a higher output version of the 4.0 liter engine, and the GT4 RS and Spyder RS take their own VF calibration, sold as a separate listing at Bulletproof Automotive.

Description

VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0

VF Engineering’s Performance ECU Software for 982 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0 works on the engine Porsche brought back to the 718 range after the turbocharged four-cylinder cars: a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six behind the cabin. VF quotes 435 hp and 325 lb-ft with the calibration installed, gains of 41 hp and 16 lb-ft over the factory 394 hp and 309 lb-ft. For a naturally aspirated engine that is a large step, achieved through ignition, fueling and throttle mapping, and it is felt most in the upper half of the rev range. It suits a GTS 4.0 owner who wants the flat-six to pull harder to its limiter while the car stays as delivered.

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
