How much power does the Competition Package for Ferrari 296 add?

The stock baseline VF Engineering publishes for its Competition Package for Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS models matches another Ferrari rather than the 296, so Bulletproof Automotive does not quote an output or gain until VF confirms figures measured on the 296 itself.

What is the difference between the two options?

Software Only supplies the Competition calibration alone for $3,495. Software + Stainless Steel Exhaust adds a VF exhaust system in 321 stainless steel, developed with Redstar USA, for $6,995. VF Engineering publishes one set of figures for the package and designs the exhaust for track use.

Does the calibration affect the hybrid system?

VF Engineering describes the calibration as revising boost, ignition and fueling for the V6. The electric motor, battery and eDrive mode of the 296 keep their factory hardware, and VF lists no change to the hybrid components themselves. Electric only driving remains available.

How is the Competition Package installed?

VF Engineering installs the calibration at its Southern California facility or through an authorized VF dealer. Bulletproof Automotive coordinates the appointment with VF after the order is placed, including the exhaust when that option is chosen, so the owner deals with one point of contact.

How does it compare with the Performance ECU Software?

VF Engineering sells a Performance ECU Software for the 296 at $3,295 and presents the Competition Package as the stronger option, with the stainless exhaust available as well. Neither calibration changes the turbochargers or the hybrid hardware of the car.

Description

VF Engineering Competition Package for Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS

VF Engineering’s Competition Package for Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS is VF’s strongest file for Ferrari’s first road-going V6 since the Dino, a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine with its turbochargers inside a 120-degree vee, paired with an electric motor and a plug-in battery. The stock baseline VF publishes for this package matches another Ferrari rather than the 296, so no output or gain is quoted here. VF revises boost, ignition and fueling for the V6, layered on top of the electric assistance the car already provides, and the package can be ordered as software alone or with a VF stainless steel exhaust developed with Redstar USA. VF designs the exhaust for track use, and the hybrid hardware stays as delivered.

Features

Competition calibration for the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6
Boost, ignition and fueling revised on the factory turbochargers
Choice of Software Only or Software + Stainless Steel Exhaust
VF exhaust developed with Redstar USA
Exhaust in 321 stainless steel with a 2.0 mm wall, TIG welded and back-purged
Installed by VF or an authorized VF dealer

Applications

Ferrari 296 GTB: F171 | 2023-present | 3.0L twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid
Ferrari 296 GTS: F171 | 2023-present | 3.0L twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid

Notes

The Software Only option of this Competition Package for Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS models supplies no hardware
No output or gain is quoted here because the stock baseline VF publishes for this package matches another Ferrari rather than the 296
The Software + Stainless Steel Exhaust option adds a VF stainless steel exhaust system, which VF Engineering designs for track use
VF Engineering publishes one set of Competition figures for this package and gives no separate figure for the Software Only option
For a milder VF calibration, see the VF Engineering Performance ECU Software for Ferrari 296 GTB and GTS

About VF Engineering

VF Engineering designs supercharger and turbocharger systems, titanium exhausts and ECU and TCU calibrations from a 15,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim, Orange County, California, where it has been based for nearly two decades. Every calibration is developed in house on the company’s own Mustang AWD 500 chassis dyno, ECU boards are handled in a dedicated clean room, and new parts start in an R&D room equipped with a rapid prototyper. VF reports that more than 93 percent of its supercharger systems are still running after years of hard use, many on their second or third owner, and its engineers carry the testing discipline of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series into every road calibration.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
