Do the Racing Springs 12K 175mm cover the whole car?

No. The TEIN Racing Springs 12K 175mm are the rear pair for the Super Racing CT9A Evo kit. TEIN specifies 14.0 kgf/mm springs of the same length and ID at the front, so a full setup needs both pairs, ordered separately.

Do these work with the factory Evo dampers?

No. They are flat-ended coilover springs with a 65 mm ID, specified by TEIN for its Super Racing coilover kit. TEIN sells separate lowering springs for factory dampers; these racing springs are meant for a coilover with a matching spring seat.

Is the rear spring High Load or standard?

High Load. TEIN recommends that type for its Super Racing kits and lists it in 58, 65 and 70 mm IDs, while standard racing springs come in 58 and 65 mm. The CT9A rear spec calls for High Load at 12.0 kgf/mm.

How much compression is allowed?

The stated maximum stroke is 3.6 inches, or 92 mm. TEIN cautions that a spring pushed beyond its allowable stroke or load may stop performing as designed and can sag, deform or break, so set up the coilover to keep compression inside that figure.

Is this a special order?

Yes. TEIN USA marks this rear spring as a special order from Japan, so the lead time varies from one order to the next. Once BA places the order it cannot be cancelled or returned, so confirm the rate, length and ID first.

Description

TEIN Racing Springs 12K 175mm 65mm ID High Load (Pair)

TEIN’s Racing Springs 12K 175mm go on the rear axle of an Evo VIII or IX fitted with TEIN’s Super Racing dampers, as specified for the CT9A chassis from 2003 to 2007. At 12.0 kgf/mm they run 2 kgf/mm softer than the front springs, with the same 175 mm length and 65 mm ID in High Load form. A circuit Evo on those coilovers needs them, while a road car on stock springs would find them overkill.

Why Racing Springs

A TEIN racing spring uses a coil that needs less material than a TEIN Standard spring, which TEIN says delivers longer stroke and lower weight. The rate is linear, so the rear of the car meets the same 12.0 kgf/mm at every point of its travel instead of a rising curve. Flat ends locate on the coilover seats, and TEIN recommends the pair for competition and motorsport use.

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
