Which kit and axle are these springs for?

TEIN specifies them for the rear axle of its Super Racing damper kit on the ZN6 Toyota 86 and Scion FR-S and the ZC6 Subaru BRZ. The springs do not fit a car by themselves; they sit on those coilover dampers, which ship without main springs.

Why is the rear spring stiffer than the front?

TEIN sets the Super Racing kit for these cars at 12.0 kgf/mm rear and 10.0 kgf/mm front. TEIN publishes the split without a stated reason, and BA supplies the springs to that spec. The front pair also has a 70 mm ID, so the two pairs are not interchangeable.

Do the Racing Springs 12K 150mm come as two springs?

Yes. The TEIN Racing Springs 12K 150mm are sold only in pairs, with two springs of the same part number in each set. That is one complete rear axle for the Super Racing kit; the 10.0 kgf/mm front springs are ordered separately.

Will they work on a street car with stock suspension?

No. These are flat-ended coilover springs with a 65 mm ID, made to sit on coilover spring seats, so they are not a substitute for the factory springs on stock struts. TEIN recommends them for competition and motorsport use on coilovers such as the Super Racing kit.

What does 78 mm maximum stroke mean in practice?

It is the limit TEIN sets on how far the spring may compress, 3.1 inches here. TEIN warns that exceeding that stroke, or the rated load, can lead to sagging, deformation or breakage, so the coilover setup has to keep the spring inside it.

Description

TEIN Racing Springs 12K 150mm 65mm ID High Load (Pair)

TEIN’s Racing Springs 12K 150mm handle the rear of TEIN’s Super Racing damper kit for the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86. Here TEIN runs the stiffer rate at the back, 12.0 kgf/mm against 10.0 at the front, on a 150 mm High Load coil with a 65 mm ID. Owners building a dedicated track car on that kit need this pair; a daily-driven coupe on its original springs does not.

Linear Rate, Less Mass

TEIN’s racing coil uses less material than its Standard spring, and TEIN credits that design with longer stroke and lower weight. The rate is linear, rising by the same amount for every millimeter the rear of the coupe compresses it. Both ends are flat for coilover seats, and TEIN recommends these springs for competition and motorsport use.

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
