How many pairs does a GRF or GVF STI need?

Two. TEIN specifies 10.0 kgf/mm, 175 mm, 65 mm ID High Load springs at both the front and the rear of its Super Racing kit for these cars. Each order line is one pair of two springs, so a full car takes a quantity of two.

Do the Racing Springs 10K 175mm suit both GRF and GVF cars?

TEIN specifies the TEIN Racing Springs 10K 175mm for its Super Racing kit on the GRF and GVF Impreza WRX STI, 2008-2014. The springs depend on those coilover dampers, so the real question is whether the damper kit suits the car, and BA can confirm that.

Are these springs linear or progressive?

Linear. TEIN racing springs hold one rate through their stroke, 10.0 kgf/mm or 560 lbs/in here. That differs from the progressive S.Tech and H.Tech lowering springs, which TEIN designs for factory or factory-replacement dampers rather than for coilovers such as the Super Racing kit.

What is the maximum stroke?

TEIN lists 3.8 inches, or 97 mm, as the maximum stroke for this spring. According to TEIN, overstroking or overloading it means the spring may not perform as designed and risks sagging, deformation or breakage, so each corner of the STI should be set up to stay within that figure.

Is this a stock item?

No. TEIN USA marks it as a special order from Japan, so lead time varies. Because the part is ordered for you, it cannot be cancelled or returned once the order is placed, which matters when two pairs are needed for one car.

Description

TEIN Racing Springs 10K 175mm 65mm ID High Load (Pair)

TEIN’s Racing Springs 10K 175mm stand apart because TEIN specifies the same spring at both ends of its Super Racing kit for the 2008-2014 GRF and GVF Subaru Impreza WRX STI. That means one car takes two pairs. Each coil is a High Load spring at 10.0 kgf/mm with a 65 mm ID and 97 mm of allowable stroke. They suit an STI built for the circuit on that coilover kit and are excessive for a street car on its original springs.

Why Two Pairs

TEIN sells racing springs in pairs, and the GRF / GVF Super Racing spec calls for this rate, length and ID at all four corners, so a complete car needs two sets. Like the rest of the TEIN racing range, the coil uses less material than a Standard spring for more stroke and less weight, holds a linear rate and has flat ends for coilover seats.

Features

Linear rate holds steady through compression
Reduced-material coil design for longer stroke than TEIN Standard springs
Lower weight than TEIN Standard springs
Flat ends made to locate on coilover seats
Helper springs and hardware listed by TEIN in this ID
TEIN recommends the Racing Springs 10K 175mm for competition and motorsport use

About TEIN

TEIN was founded in Yokohama, Japan, in 1985 by former rally mechanic Hakaru Ichino, joined soon after by driver Yoshio Fujimoto. The team reached the World Rally Championship in 1989, and in 1995 Fujimoto won the Safari Rally in a Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, the first Japanese driver to do so. TEIN launched its own dampers in 1990 and came to supply around 80 percent of the dampers in the N1 Taikyu endurance series. TEIN USA has served the Americas from Downey, California, since 2001.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
