What does the Heat Exchanger Kit do?

The T1 Heat Exchanger Kit is the front-mount radiator of a water-to-air intercooler system. Water that has picked up heat in the intercoolers flows through it at the front of the 4S Audi R8, sheds that heat into the airstream and returns cooler to the rest of the circuit.

The kit includes the heat exchanger with custom end tanks and 16AN male bungs, finished in Cerakote matte black ceramic coating, plus installation hardware. The 16AN hose to the T1 front bulkhead is part of the complete ice box kit for the R8 rather than this listing.

Which lines connect to it?

The end tanks carry 16AN male bungs, matching the 16AN main feed and return lines in the T1 Intercooler Line Kit for the R8. T1 Race Development states that the line kit is made only for T1 intercoolers, the T1 ice box and this heat exchanger.

Why is it Cerakote coated?

T1 Race Development finishes the heat exchanger in Cerakote matte black ceramic coating, which gives the core and end tanks a durable, consistent finish where they sit behind the front of the car. The same coating family is used on the hot side parts of the T1 turbo kit.

Is there a Huracán version?

T1 Race Development lists this kit for the second generation Audi R8 only. Its complete Huracán ice box kit does not include a heat exchanger, so Huracán owners should talk to Bulletproof Automotive about the rest of the cooling circuit before choosing parts.

Description

T1 Race Development Heat Exchanger Kit for 4S Audi R8

T1 Race Development’s Heat Exchanger Kit for 4S Audi R8 serves as the front-mount radiator for a water-to-air intercooler system, where the heat pulled out of the charge air is finally released into the airstream. T1 fabricates it with custom end tanks carrying 16AN male bungs, coats it in matte black Cerakote and supplies the hardware to mount it at the front of the second generation R8.

Design and Performance

In a water-to-air setup, the intercoolers transfer heat from the charge air into the water, and the water then needs somewhere to shed that heat before it returns. The T1 heat exchanger does that job at the front of the car, so cooled water flows back through the circuit. The 16AN male bungs match the main lines of the T1 line kit, and the Cerakote ceramic coating gives the core a durable matte black finish.

Where It Fits

The kit is one of the building blocks of the R8 version of the T1 V10 Complete Ice Box Kit, which adds a 16AN hose from the heat exchanger to the T1 front bulkhead. On its own, it suits owners building the system in stages or upgrading an existing water-to-air setup.

About T1 Race Development

T1 Race Development was founded in Texas in 2005 by Tony Palo, whose 2000 Acura Integra GSR became the first eight-second front-wheel-drive street car before the shop turned its attention to the Nissan GT-R. T1 went on to become the first to exceed 230 mph in the half mile in a GT-R and the first to make 2,400 whp from the VR38DETT, and it now develops engines, drivetrain parts and complete builds for the R35 GT-R, Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
