What do I need alongside the Reclining Seat Rail for FD2?

The Spoon reclining bucket seat, part ALL-81200-001, sold separately, which this rail is made to carry. Spoon lists the FD2 rail by part number in the catalogue entry for that seat. Order one rail for each Spoon seat, choosing Left or Right for the seat position it will occupy.

Does it fit both FD2 production series?

Yes. Spoon registers the rail for the ABA-FD2 Civic Type R built from March 2007 to September 2008 and for the later cars built from September 2008 to August 2010, all with the K20A and 6-speed manual. Early and late FD2 owners order the same part number.

Can the Reclining Seat Rail for FD2 take the Spoon carbon bucket seat?

Yes, with an added bracket. Go Tuning, the US distributor for Spoon, states that the Reclining Seat Rail for FD2 can be reconfigured with the Spoon side bracket for the carbon bucket seat, which is sold separately. An FD2 can start on the reclining seat and move to the carbon shell later.

Does this rail fit the FN2 Civic Type R Euro?

No. Spoon catalogues a separate rail for the FN2 hatchback under part numbers 81250-FN2-L00 and R00. The FD2 sedan rail is registered only for the FD2, so an owner moving a seat between the two cars needs the rail that matches each chassis.

Is professional installation recommended?

Yes. The rail is what holds the seat to the car, so the bolts and the seat position deserve care. BA recommends having the seat and rail fitted by a shop experienced with bucket seats, which can also check seat belt and buckle alignment before the car goes back on the road.

Description

Spoon Sports Reclining Seat Rail for FD2 Honda Civic Type R

Spoon Sports’ Reclining Seat Rail for FD2 Civic Type R mounts the Spoon reclining bucket seat in the four-door Type R that Honda built for Japan from 2007 to 2010, with the high-revving K20A and a 6-speed manual. The FD2 is a stiff, focused sedan, and one that is driven on the road as often as at the track is where a reclining bucket makes more sense than a fixed shell. Spoon shaped the seat to hold the shoulders and steady the eye line while letting the driver feel the car through the waist, and covered it in the same breathable fabric as its carbon seat. The rail is registered for both ABA-FD2 series, March 2007 to September 2008 and September 2008 to August 2010. Each one is listed at 8.5 kg and serves one seat, and Go Tuning states it can be reconfigured with Spoon’s side bracket for the carbon bucket seat.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
