Spoon Sports Rear Fenders for AP1 / AP2 Honda S2000
Extra rear arch room in FRP for the wider tires a hard-driven S2000 puts its power through
The Spoon Sports Rear Fenders for AP1 and AP2 Honda S2000 are FRP rear fenders that Go Tuning lists as adding 25 mm of width at the rear of the car. Spoon publishes no description of its own, so this listing sticks to what Spoon and Go Tuning confirm. What they confirm is useful. The fenders fit every AP1 and AP2 Spoon registers, from the first F20C cars of 1999 to the final F22C cars of 2009, and they arrive unpainted with the standard Spoon instructions for preparing FRP. On a rear-drive car the rear tires carry the power, so extra arch width is where a wider tire or lower offset wheel pays off most on corner exit. They make a logical partner for the Spoon S2000 front fenders, which add width at the other end. These are parts for a serious build and a capable body shop, not a quick weekend change.
Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
