Spoon Sports N1 Tail Silencer for GD1 / GD3 Honda Fit
Just 4 kg on the scale, with a 60 mm main pipe that gives the first-generation Fit a lively, race-style voice
Spoon Sports’ N1 Tail Silencer for GD1 and GD3 Fit brings a race-style rear muffler to the first-generation Fit, covering the 1.3 litre L13A and 1.5 litre L15A cars, manual and CVT alike. At a listed 4 kg it is lighter than the N1 silencers Spoon makes for the bigger Civic and Integra models, yet it keeps the same 60 mm main pipe and 65 mm outlet. Spoon tuned it for a bold power feel and a racing sound while holding flow volume and gas velocity high, and a factory-standard flange lets it bolt to the production mid pipe. On a small hatch the change is as much about character as pace. It suits a Fit owner who enjoys a revvy car and wants it to sound the part, and it is too much for someone who values a quiet cabin above all.
Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.
