Does the Head Cover for FK7 fit the sedan too?

Yes. Spoon registers it for the FC1 sedan with the 1.5L turbo L15B and for the FK7 hatchback in both manual and CVT form. The Head Cover for FK7 suits those 1.5L turbo engines only; tenth-generation Civics built with the 2.0L engine are a different engine family and sit outside the fitment.

What is the red finish like?

The Red option is a crystal, wrinkle-textured red applied by Spoon to the factory resin cover. It is the look Honda uses to mark its Type R engines, so on a 1.5L turbo Civic it reads as a deliberate, factory-style touch rather than a loud aftermarket addition, and it suits red exterior trim well.

Is the cover aluminum or plastic?

It is the factory resin cover. Honda makes the tenth-generation Civic head cover from resin, and Spoon keeps that part and changes only its finish, using a process developed for the material. The benefit is factory fit and sealing; the cover is not meant to save weight, and Spoon lists the set at 2.2 kg.

What comes in the box?

The painted head cover in the color chosen and a new head cover gasket. Spoon sells it as a set so the seal is renewed during the swap. Spoon lists no separate hardware, so plan to reuse the factory fasteners and keep them in order as they come off the engine.

How hard is the install?

It is a straightforward bolt-on job for anyone who has changed a head cover gasket before. With the engine cold, the ignition coils come out, then the factory cover, and the Spoon cover goes on with its new gasket. Tighten the fasteners evenly to the Honda service figure so the gasket seats without a leak.

Description

Spoon Sports Head Cover for FK7 / FC1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Head Cover for FK7 / FC1 Civic gives the 1.5L turbo hatchback and sedan the finish that usually marks a Type R or a Spoon-built engine. Honda makes the tenth-generation Civic head cover in resin, and Spoon refinishes that factory part with a process suited to the material: the Red option takes a crystal, wrinkle-textured red in the style Honda uses as a Type R signature, while the Yellow option wears the color Spoon has carried across successive Civics. Nothing about the fit changes, so the cover drops onto the L15 engine with the new gasket from the set. It is the right part for an owner who opens the hood at meets and wants the engine bay to match a Spoon exterior; it adds no power, and Spoon does not suggest it does.

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
