Why does one Exhaust Pipe-B for DC5 also fit the EP3?

Spoon registers the Exhaust Pipe-B for DC5 for the EP3 Civic Type R as well, each with the K20A and 6-speed manual, and Go Tuning lists it for the RSX and Civic. Spoon does not explain the shared fit, but the single part number means one pipe serves either car.

Does it work with the stock muffler?

Yes. The rear flange is made to the factory standard, so the original muffler bolts straight on. Spoon pitches the pipe as half of a system with its own tail silencer, saying the pair is lighter and stronger in power and torque, but no figures are given and the stock muffler remains a valid partner.

What does moving the silencer forward achieve?

Spoon explains that exhaust gas is hotter closer to the engine, and a silencer working on hotter gas quiets the exhaust more effectively. Placing it as far forward as possible also steadies exhaust pressure, which Spoon says raises exhaust efficiency, the main reason it gives for the design.

Is it a DIY installation?

It can be, for an experienced home mechanic with a lift. The pipe is listed at 9 kg and arrives in a box 177 cm long, so handling it alone under a car on jack stands is awkward. It joins the front section and rear muffler at standard flanges, and new gaskets at both joints are a good idea.

Does it fit the US Civic Si and RSX?

Yes. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, sells this pipe for the RSX and the Civic Si, listing model years from 2002 to 2006. In Japan, Spoon registers it for the DC5 Integra Type R and the EP3 Civic Type R, both with the K20A and 6-speed manual.

Description

Spoon Sports Exhaust Pipe-B for DC5 Honda Integra Type R and EP3 Civic Type R

Spoon Sports’ Exhaust Pipe-B for DC5 Integra Type R and EP3 Civic Type R is one part number for two K20A cars, a mid pipe that runs between the front section and the tail silencer on either chassis. Spoon’s approach starts with the silencer built into the pipe: it sits as far forward as the layout permits, where the gas is hottest and silencing works best. That placement also stabilizes exhaust pressure, which Spoon credits with better exhaust efficiency. Combined with a Spoon tail silencer, Spoon says the system is lighter and makes more power and torque; with the factory muffler it still bolts up, because the rear flange follows the factory standard. Listed at 9 kg and shipped in a box 177 cm long, it is a part for an owner building a complete Spoon exhaust rather than a quick sound upgrade.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
