Does the Carbon Lip Spoiler for FL1 require cutting or drilling?

Yes. The Carbon Lip Spoiler for FL1 is held on with bolts and nuts, and Spoon states that the bumper must be modified to accept them. Plan on a body shop or an experienced installer, and test-fit the lip before any holes are made so the position is right the first time.

Does it fit the 2025 facelifted Civic hatchback?

No. Go Tuning, the sole US distributor for Spoon, lists this lip for the pre-facelift Civic built for the 2022 through 2024 model years. The facelifted car has a revised front end, so it is not covered by this part number.

Will it work on a CVT car or only the manual?

It works on both. Spoon registers the lip for the FL1 hatchback with the 6-speed manual and with the CVT, in both the LX and EX grades it lists in Japan. The lip mounts to the bumper, so the gearbox makes no difference to the fit.

What does the lip actually do?

Spoon developed it to control and straighten the air flowing under the floor, using data proven in endurance racing. Spoon says the result is better handling at high speed. It publishes no downforce figure, so BA does not quote one, but the intent is a front end that feels calmer as speed builds.

Should the carbon be protected?

Yes. Spoon advises a UV-protective clear coat because sunlight can discolor carbon fiber. Fit the lip before it is cleared to confirm the position, and keep heat away while the coating dries, since Spoon warns that booth heaters or spot heating can distort the part.

Description

Spoon Sports Carbon Lip Spoiler for FL1 Honda Civic

The Spoon Sports Carbon Lip Spoiler for FL1 Civic hatchback brings a lesson from Spoon’s endurance racing program to the everyday 1.5-liter car. Spoon developed it specifically for the FL1 using data verified in endurance competition, and its purpose is to straighten the airflow entering the space under the floor. Cleaner flow there helps the car feel more composed at high speed, which Spoon says makes spirited driving more enjoyable. The lip is carbon fiber and is secured with bolts and nuts, so the factory bumper has to be modified to accept the hardware; this is not a stick-on accessory. Spoon registers it for both the 6-speed manual and CVT hatchbacks, and Go Tuning, Spoon’s US distributor, sells it for the pre-facelift 2022 to 2024 car. It suits an FL1 owner who drives with intent and wants an aero part with a genuine development story; anyone who would rather not drill the bumper should look elsewhere.

Features

Shaped using data from Spoon endurance racing

Notes

Installing the Carbon Lip Spoiler for FL1 requires modifying the factory bumper so it can be bolted in place
Fits the pre-facelift 2022 to 2024 FL1; the facelifted hatchback is not covered
Spoon recommends a UV-protective clear coat, since sunlight can discolor bare carbon
Test-fit before any clear coat, then let it dry naturally below 40 degrees C

About Spoon Sports

Spoon Sports was founded in 1988 in Suginami, Tokyo, by Tatsuru Ichishima, a former Honda race car tester and driver, with backing from Honda and Mugen. The company has raced Hondas from its first season, when Ichishima’s own Civic became the first Civic to enter the Japan Touring Car Championship, and its Type One workshop, opened in 2001, services and tunes the cars its parts are developed on. Spoon builds engine, drivetrain, exhaust, chassis and aero parts for Honda models and proves them on circuits and in endurance racing, including the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
