Does the Valved Exhaust for 991.1 Carrera Base fit a car without Porsche Sport Exhaust?

Yes. This version is built for 2012 to 2016 991.1 Carrera Base cars that left the factory without Porsche Sport Exhaust, and it includes its own valve controller. Cars with PSE, plus the Carrera S and GTS, use the separate SOUL valved exhaust built for those models.

How are the exhaust valves controlled?

The SOUL Valved Exhaust for 991.1 Carrera Base cars ships with a valve controller kit and remote fobs that open and close the valves on demand. The controller can also pair with two of the HomeLink buttons in the car.

Will it drone on the highway?

SOUL designed it not to. Helmholtz resonators are tuned to cancel the 3,000 to 3,500rpm range where the 991.1 Carrera drones, and with the valves closed the factory side mufflers stay in the path. SOUL says PDK owners will not be disappointed.

Do I need an ECU tune?

No. The exhaust runs on the factory engine management without a tune. Eurocharged Canada recorded gains of 27whp and 36 lb-ft at 4,000rpm with this exhaust plus its own ECU tune and BMC air filters on 93-octane fuel, so a tune adds more.

Can I install it myself?

Many experienced home mechanics can, since every system is fixture-checked and ships with new hardware and instructions. The job means removing the rear bumper, cutting the factory side mufflers and wiring the valve controller, so SOUL strongly recommends a professional shop.

Description

SOUL Performance Valved Exhaust for 991.1 Porsche 911 Carrera Base without PSE

SOUL Performance’s Valved Exhaust for 991.1 Carrera Base cars built without Porsche Sport Exhaust gives the quiet-spec 911 the voice the factory held back. Hand-built in Pennsylvania from .065-inch wall T304L stainless, it runs 2.5-inch piping straight to the tips with the valves open and routes through the retained factory side mufflers with them closed. SOUL puts its own valve controller in the box, so a Carrera that left the factory with no exhaust button gains one. It suits the owner who chose the purist’s Carrera and wants it to sound like one.

Development and Testing

The 991.1 Carrera drones between 3,000 and 3,500rpm once freer-flowing parts go on, and nearly 40 percent of SOUL customers also fit upgraded headers. Rather than a bigger resonator, which would have cost clearance and flow, SOUL tuned Helmholtz resonators (anti-drone tubes) to cancel that band. On the non-PSE car the factory side mufflers stay, cut and joined to the tips with secondary pipes SOUL supplies.

Sound

Open, the X-pipe smooths an unrestricted flow for a louder, Cup car-inspired note with more crackle on the overrun. Closed, the tone stays refined. It is overkill for an owner who wants only a little more volume.

Notes

The factory side mufflers must be cut to fit the included secondary pipes
Fitting the valve controller means removing the rear bumper, tapping a 12V switched power source and running vacuum lines
SOUL strongly recommends professional installation
Quoted power gains were measured with a Eurocharged Canada ECU tune and BMC air filters also fitted, on 93-octane fuel

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
