Does the SOUL Valved Exhaust System for 981 drone on the highway?

No, and that is the point. SOUL uses a real muffler with sound-deadening packing rather than a straight pipe, which keeps the cabin calm with the valves closed, even on cars running aftermarket headers. Open the valves and it builds to a Cup-car-inspired note.

Does it come with a valve controller, and do I need PSE?

Yes, a valve controller kit is included with every system. If your car does not have factory PSE, the controller is what gives you valve control, from two key fobs; if it does have PSE, the controller adds a manual override on top of the factory button. Either way the fobs can pair with HomeLink.

Which 981 models does it fit?

It fits the 2.7-liter and 3.4-liter 981 Boxster and Cayman, including the S and GTS, from 2013 to 2016. It does not fit the 981 GT4 or Boxster Spyder, which use the 3.8-liter engine and a different exhaust, so confirm your model before ordering.

What tip options are there?

A lot. Single-wall tips come in 321 stainless, straight-cut or slash-cut, in Signature Satin, Satin, Satin Black, or Brushed, or in titanium for the lightest option. Chrome dual-wall tips come in polished or black chrome. Custom colors and logo work are available by request.

Does it affect the catalytic converters?

No. The SOUL Valved Exhaust System for 981 is a cat-back, so it replaces the rear section only and leaves the catalytic converters upstream in place. It is a sound-and-weight upgrade, not an emissions part.

Is professional installation recommended?

Yes. The exhaust is a direct bolt-on, but the included valve controller needs wiring and vacuum, so a qualified installer makes the cleanest job of both the exhaust and the controller.

SOUL Performance Valved Exhaust System with Single Wall Tips for 981 Porsche Boxster / Cayman

SOUL Performance’s Valved Exhaust System for 981 Porsche Boxster and Cayman gives the mid-engine flat-six the voice Porsche left on the table, without the constant highway drone that makes most aftermarket systems hard to live with. It is a valved cat-back built in-house in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, from mandrel-bent T304L stainless with 2.5-inch over-axle piping and SOUL’s own fortified mufflers, which use sound-deadening packing to keep the cabin calm with the valves closed and open up to a Cup-car-inspired howl when you want it. Every system includes a valve controller kit, so even a car without factory PSE gets full open-and-closed control from the included key fobs, and a PSE car gains a manual override on top of the factory button. Choose from a deep range of tips, straight-cut or slash-cut single wall in satin, satin black, brushed, or titanium, or chrome dual-wall in polished or black chrome, to finish the car exactly the way you want. Hand-built, bolt-on, and backed for life, this is the exhaust that makes a 981 sound like it should.

Development

SOUL Performance engineered this system to deliver a broad and refined sound spectrum, Cup car inspired when the valves are open, yet composed and drone-free when the valves are closed. The proprietary SOUL muffler design virtually eliminates cabin drone, ensuring a controlled, comfortable driving experience even when paired with aftermarket headers.

Construction

Each system is made from mandrel bent T304L stainless steel tubing (featuring 2.5″ OD over axle pipes) and features mufflers with fortified casings in the interest of durability. With valves closed the exhaust gasses are routed into the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high quality sound deadening material designed to withstand abuse and not blow out over time. The mufflers are incredibly effective at minimizing drone. Exhaust gasses make their way through the muffler and out through perforations into the outer piping. With valves open, exhaust gasses are now free to exit out through large 2.5″ piping while perforations allow exhaust gasses to “talk” with the muffler, encouraging a fuller, more robust tone.

Bolt On and Go

Each SOUL Performance system is constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing with 2.5-inch over-axle piping and fortified muffler casings engineered for long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are directed through the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material designed to withstand sustained use without blowout, resulting in exceptional drone suppression and a refined driving experience. When the valves are opened, exhaust gases are allowed to exit freely through large 2.5-inch piping, while integrated perforations enable interaction with the muffler, producing a fuller, deeper, and more robust exhaust tone that highlights the character of the engine.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. Please review the full Terms & Conditions here.

BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
