What does the SOUL Valve Controller Kit for 982 do?

It gives you direct control of the factory PSE exhaust valves on the 4.0-liter 718. Using two included key fobs, you can hold the valves fully open for the full flat-six sound or fully closed for quiet, instead of leaving them to the car's own programming.

Which 718 models does it fit?

It fits the 4.0-liter flat-six 718 models: the Cayman GT4, GT4 RS, and GTS 4.0, and the Spyder, from 2020 on. It does not work on the 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter turbocharged 718 base, S, or GTS, which use a different exhaust, so confirm your model before ordering.

No. The kit is not a direct plug-in; it needs a ground, a switched 12-volt power source, and vacuum routed to its solenoid. SOUL includes an install guide, but it is best fitted by someone comfortable with wiring, which is why professional installation is recommended.

What is the difference between the two override methods?

The partial override keeps the factory PSE working until you press the fob to hold the valves open, then hands control back. The complete override puts the valves fully under fob control, open or closed, with no automatic operation while the kit is installed. You pick the one that suits you.

Can I control it without the key fob?

The two fobs are the main control, and either can be synced to two of your three HomeLink buttons, so you can open or close the valves from the car's own garage-door controls as well. It is a convenient, factory-integrated way to run it.

Will it work with an aftermarket exhaust?

Yes, the SOUL Valve Controller Kit for 982 controls the factory valve hardware, so it works with the stock system and many aftermarket setups. Note that with an aftermarket exhaust the valve-closed setting can be more pronounced and less refined than on the factory exhaust.

Description

SOUL Performance Valve Controller Kit for 982 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 / GT4 RS / GTS 4.0

SOUL Performance’s Valve Controller Kit for 982 Porsche 718 GT4, GT4 RS, GTS 4.0 and Spyder gives you something Porsche never offered from the factory: full, on-demand control of the 4.0-liter flat-six’s exhaust valves. Instead of leaving the PSE valves to the car’s own programming, the kit lets you hold them wide open for the full voice of the engine, or fully closed when you need to stay quiet, all from two included key fobs that can also pair with your HomeLink buttons. It installs with two override methods, a partial override that keeps the factory PSE available alongside the kit, or a complete override that puts the valves entirely under your control. Built in-house in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and backed by SOUL’s lifetime warranty, it turns the exhaust note into a switch you control.

Override Methods

Method A: The initial approach involves a partial override of the PSE system, catering to individuals who desire the valves to remain open at all times. This method maintains the factory PSE controls unaltered until the valve controller kit is engaged. Upon activation, simply by pressing a button, the kit will assume complete control and ensure the valves remain open constantly. Similarly, with another button press, the option to revert back to the factory PSE controls becomes available, allowing for valve closure and normal operation of the vehicle.
Method B: The alternative approach provides a comprehensive override of the PSE system, designed for individuals who desire both constant valve opening and closing. This method ensures the valves remain open or closed entirely to comply with sound regulations at different tracks. Notably, the factory PSE programming remains inactive unless the valve controller kit is removed from the vehicle. Switching between complete closure and complete opening can be easily controlled by pressing a button, as there is no automated valve control functionality associated with this method.
Both Methods: The control of valve actuation can be managed using the provided key fob, which allows you to activate the valves by pressing specific buttons. Alternatively, you have the option to synchronize the key fob signal with two out of the three Homelink garage door buttons. Once synchronized, there is no longer a need to rely on the key fob for valve control, as you can conveniently use the Homelink buttons instead.

Controller Key Fob

The valve control kit includes a pair of key fobs, allowing you to easily manage the valve operations. Moreover, these key fobs can be paired with the HomeLink buttons, enabling remote valve control with a simple press of a button.
Enables you to forcibly keep the valves open, resulting in a magnificent sound experience consistently. By default, the car’s valves can close based on operating parameters, which may not always be ideal. This situation becomes even more noticeable and undesirable when using an aftermarket exhaust system.
Enables you to manually close the valves as needed, offering particular utility in attempts to comply with track decibel restrictions when approaching a metering station.
To set up the system, wiring is necessary for both a ground connection and a switched 12V power source. Additionally, it is essential to run vacuum to the valve controller solenoid.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
