SOUL Performance developed the Street Package for the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman (2017+) as a complete, street-focused solution that adds power, throttle response, and turbo character while maintaining a refined, drone-free cabin. By pairing SOUL Performance’s Sport Downpipe with the Valved Exhaust System, the package uses a high-flow downpipe and smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm to 55 mm at the exit to improve flow and enhance exhaust tone without introducing harshness or intrusive cabin noise. Constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with 2.5-inch OD over-axle piping and fortified muffler casings, the system is engineered for long-term durability and consistent performance. With the valves closed, exhaust flow is routed through SOUL Performance mufflers for exceptional drone suppression and a calm highway demeanor; with the valves open, large 2.5-inch piping and integrated perforations deliver a fuller, more robust “PSE Plus” sound with a pronounced level of snarl and crackle, with Sport mode further increasing crackles and burbles. The kit installs as a direct bolt-on with installation instructions included, and a valve controller is included with every system (required for non-PSE cars and optional for PSE-equipped cars for full-time manual control), with operation through the factory PSE button, included fobs, and HomeLink compatibility. Every component is fixture-tested and foam packed for safe delivery, and the package is backed by SOUL Performance’s lifetime warranty for both street and track use.

Development

• SOUL Performance set out to develop a valved exhaust that delivers a refined cabin presence while bringing out a more aggressive note that makes the 718 flat-four sound distinctly Porsche, addressing one of the platform’s most common complaints. While increasing volume on the 718 is easy, compensating for the turbocharger and extensive factory sound deadening can introduce undesirable traits such as rasp and drone. By applying the same design principles used throughout SOUL Performance’s renowned Valved Exhaust line for previous Boxster and Cayman generations, the system provides a controlled, refined increase in sound that pairs exceptionally well with a freer-flowing upgraded downpipe, producing a mature exhaust note without ever becoming overbearing. This makes it a superior option for vehicles not equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust from the factory. The high-flow downpipe and smooth mandrel-bent piping that transitions from 90 mm down to 55 mm at the exit promote improved throttle response and a more exciting exhaust character. Designed to bolt on with no modifications required, the setup offers a straightforward, reversible way to make the 718 Boxster or Cayman more engaging.

Construction

• SOUL Performance constructs each system from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing, including 2.5-inch OD over-axle piping, and equips it with mufflers featuring fortified casings to promote long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed into the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material engineered to withstand sustained abuse without blowing out over time. The mufflers are highly effective at minimizing drone, allowing exhaust gases to pass through the muffler and exit through perforations into the outer piping. With the valves open, exhaust gases are free to exit through large 2.5-inch piping, while the integrated perforations allow the exhaust to interact with the muffler to encourage a fuller, more robust tone. Each downpipe is fabricated from mandrel-bent, thick-wall T304L stainless steel and is rigorously quality-checked, with back-purged TIG welds used to ensure proper weld penetration and long-term reliability.

Sound

• SOUL Performance characterizes the sound experience as “PSE Plus,” delivering a familiar, non-intrusive cabin tone with the valves open that is comparable to Porsche Sport Exhaust. Under heavy load, the system becomes noticeably louder and more aggressive while remaining refined. With the valves closed, highway cruising stays calm enough for phone conversations without exhaust intrusion. The system produces a respectable level of snarl and crackle without droning across RPM and throttle loads, and Sport mode further increases crackles and burbles for a more energetic character.

Valve Operation

• SOUL Performance includes a valve controller with every system, and it is required for vehicles not equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE). For PSE-equipped cars, full factory functionality is retained by using the factory vacuum lines. The valve controller remains optional for PSE-equipped vehicles, adding the ability to control the valves at all times. Valve operation can be managed through the factory PSE button, the included valve controller fobs, or programmed into HomeLink buttons.
