The SOUL Performance Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman Race Exhaust System is engineered for drivers seeking uncompromising, track-focused performance, prioritizing maximum exhaust flow, reduced weight, and an aggressive, unfiltered sound. Designed specifically for 2013-2016 models and configured here for PDK-equipped vehicles, the system is constructed in-house by SOUL Performance using mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with full 2.5-inch over-axle piping, reinforced mounting points, and laser-cut, TIG-welded components to withstand extreme heat cycles and sustained high-RPM use. Unlike street-oriented systems, this race exhaust delivers a raw, high-volume tone ideal for track environments and performance builds, while maintaining precise fitment through bespoke brackets and thorough test-fitting prior to shipment. Finished with slash-cut exhaust tips in Signature Satin, the system adds a purposeful, motorsport-inspired aesthetic to match its performance intent, and includes detailed installation instructions for straightforward installation. Backed by SOUL Performance’s lifetime warranty, it offers durability and confidence for dedicated enthusiasts and competition-focused drivers.

Development

SOUL Performance set out to develop lightweight, robust, and cost-effective exhaust components for the Boxster and Cayman platforms that are readily available, deliver strong performance, and are built for long-term durability. Through extensive feedback and in-depth R&D discussions with experienced shops, technicians, and drivers who conducted independent testing over the years—including valuable contributions from Bryan Schute at Speed Sport Tuning and the team at LN Engineering / BRS—SOUL Performance established a clear development strategy for a truly track-bred exhaust system.

Construction

SOUL Performance designs the over-axle pipe profiles with a full 2.5-inch diameter to provide ample clearance for axles and sway bar end links, even on heavily modified or aggressively lowered vehicles. Recognizing that exhaust-mounted hangers and brackets are prone to failure under racing conditions, SOUL Performance developed a lightweight mounting solution that sheds over five pounds compared to factory mounts while allowing individual components to be easily repaired or replaced in the event of a track incident. The forward piping is secured to a SOUL transmission mounting brace, with dedicated versions for both manual and PDK transmissions, using heavy-duty Mikalor band clamps for a secure and serviceable connection. Additional support is integrated into the over-axle piping through rubber vibration dampeners to reduce stress from flex and vibration across the entire system. Each exhaust is fabricated in-house from mandrel-bent .065-inch wall, 2.5-inch diameter T304L stainless steel tubing, with laser-cut, press-brake-formed brackets that are TIG welded and fully back-purged to ensure maximum durability and long-term reliability under extreme track conditions.

Sound

SOUL Performance designed this racing exhaust system with an uncompromising focus on track use and outright performance rather than sound attenuation. As a result, the system is extremely loud, and even when equipped with resonators, some level of drone should be expected. SOUL Performance does not recommend pairing this exhaust with aftermarket headers for street driving. That said, under full throttle and high-RPM operation, the system delivers an exceptional, race-inspired sound. For customers seeking a more refined and street-friendly exhaust experience, SOUL Performance recommends its Valved Exhaust System.

Bolt On and Go

Each SOUL Performance system is constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel tubing with 2.5-inch over-axle piping and fortified muffler casings engineered for long-term durability. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are directed through the SOUL muffler, which is packed with high-quality sound-deadening material designed to withstand sustained use without blowout, resulting in exceptional drone suppression and a refined driving experience. When the valves are opened, exhaust gases are allowed to exit freely through large 2.5-inch piping, while integrated perforations enable interaction with the muffler, producing a fuller, deeper, and more robust exhaust tone that highlights the character of the engine.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do.
