To address this, the Soul Performance Products rear exhaust is introduced, providing a significant boost in tone while effectively reducing drone by including anti-drone tubes. Development & Testing

• Soul Performance Products embarked on developing a rear exhaust system that embodies simplicity, lightweight construction, and aggressive characteristics while still ensuring optimal drivability. With a focus on addressing the droning issues typically encountered in the 1800-2200rpm range with aftermarket exhausts on 991.2 non-PSE equipped cars, they based their entire system around resolving this primary concern. Extensive testing was conducted, exploring various configurations that incorporated resonators, Helmholtz resonators (also known as anti-drone tubes), straight pipes, and a basic x-pipe to identify the most effective solution. The evaluation included tests performed with and without their Sport Catalytic Converters, considering their popularity as a common modification. Ultimately, resonators were found to diminish the overall engine tone and volume without adequately addressing the drone. However, helmholtz resonators, when engineered and implemented correctly, proved to be an efficient means of reducing undesirable frequencies. Soul Performance Products’ final design, born from this rigorous testing, has proven to deliver the optimal results for this specific application, meeting their stringent standards for sound quality and drivability.

Soul Performance Products also provides the exhaust system without anti-drone tubes, offering a lighter and more cost-effective alternative. While maintaining the same exterior volume and tone, this variation reduces drone without compromising on the desired auditory experience.

Construction

• Every exhaust is meticulously handcrafted using mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with a thick wall measuring 0.065 inches. These exhausts undergo rigorous in-house quality checks to ensure impeccable craftsmanship. To guarantee proper weld penetration and long-lasting performance, the welding process employs back purging techniques with TIG welding.
