Will the SOUL Performance Exhaust System fit my 987.1 Boxster or Cayman?

Yes. The SOUL Performance Exhaust System fits all 987.1 Porsche Boxster and Cayman models from 2005 to 2008, including the Boxster S and Cayman S. It is a direct bolt-on cat-back system that connects to the factory header section, so no cutting or fabrication is required on a stock car.

How much louder is the 987 with this exhaust?

Under heavy throttle the system opens the flat-six into an aggressive, hair-raising wail that the restrictive factory muffler holds back. At a steady cruise it stays composed, with little to no drone thanks to mufflers tuned specifically to kill resonance. The final tone also depends on your headers and any tune.

Do I need a tune to run it?

No. The system is engineered to bolt on without an ECU tune and triggers no check engine lights, because it uses no valves or added sensors. Many 987 owners still pair it with a tune and aftermarket headers to unlock more sound and response, but neither is required for the exhaust to work correctly.

What tip options does it come with?

Tips are formed from 321 stainless steel in several configurations. Single-wall Straight Cut and Slash Cut tips come in Brushed, Signature Satin, Satin Black, and Titanium, while Chrome Dual Wall tips are offered in Polished Chrome or Black Chrome for an upscale, OEM-plus rear. Titanium single-wall tips shave nearly a pound over stainless.

What is the SOUL Performance Exhaust System made from?

It is mandrel-bent from T304L stainless steel, with high-flow mufflers on fortified casings and reinforced hangers that resist the bracket cracking common to cheaper 987 systems. SOUL backs the original owner with a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship for street and track use.

For a mechanically confident owner, yes. The system is a straightforward bolt-on that ships with new header-to-exhaust flange hardware and printed instructions, and each unit is fixture-tested for fitment before packing. Align the system fully before final torque, as proper alignment delivers a clean fit and a leak-free seal.

Description

SOUL Performance Exhaust System for 987.1 Porsche Boxster / Cayman

The SOUL Performance Exhaust System for the 987.1 Porsche Boxster and Cayman gives the mid-engine flat-six the voice Porsche’s engineers left muted behind restrictive, heavy factory hardware. SOUL hand-builds each system in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel, fixture-tests every unit for fitment before it ships, and backs the original owner with a lifetime materials and workmanship warranty for street and track use. The payoff is measured, not marketed: 21.7 pounds in place of the factory system’s 36.6, a hair-raising flat-six wail under throttle, and reserved, drone-free manners at a cruise, with no valves and no check engine lights to manage. For the 987 owner who wants the car to sound the way it always should have, this is the system the SOUL catalog was built around.

Development

The SOUL Performance Exhaust System is the product of years spent configuring 987 exhausts for sound and street civility in equal measure, with mufflers tuned to deliver an aggressive flat-six character under heavy throttle while keeping partial-throttle cruising refined, which is exactly where most aftermarket systems fall apart; owners report little to no drone even when the system is paired with aftermarket headers, no valves are required to achieve that range, and the system triggers no check engine lights.

Construction

Every system is mandrel-bent from T304L stainless steel for smooth, unrestricted flow, with high-flow mufflers built on fortified casings, and SOUL’s reinforced hangers and brackets directly address the cracked supports that plague lesser systems on the 987 chassis; the exhaust tips are formed from 321 stainless steel and offered across a range of styles and finishes, from single-wall Straight Cut and Slash Cut tips to Chrome Dual Wall tips in Polished Chrome or Black Chrome, with lightweight titanium single-wall tips available for owners chasing the last bit of weight.

Bolt On and Go

Each unit is quality-checked, test-fit in a dedicated fixture, and foam-packed before it leaves SOUL, and it ships with new high-grade header-to-exhaust flange hardware and printed installation instructions, designed as a straightforward bolt-on that a mechanically confident enthusiast can complete, though careful alignment before final torque pays off in both fit and seal.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
