SOUL Performance Exhaust System for 981 Porsche Boxster / Cayman
The SOUL Performance Exhaust System for the 981 Porsche Boxster and Cayman is the lighter, valveless way to give the mid-engine flat-six a permanent, fuller voice, tuned to sound like a valved system with the valves open, all the time. SOUL hand-builds each system in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel with fortified, sound-deadening muffler casings, fixture-tests every unit for fit, and backs the original owner with a lifetime materials and workmanship warranty for street and track use. It flows through 2.5-inch over-axle piping for a noticeably louder note than Porsche Sport Exhaust at full song, yet the mufflers are tuned to keep drone in check so the car stays usable on the road. For the 981 owner who wants the sound on permanently and a lighter system doing it, this is SOUL’s answer.
Development and Testing
SOUL built this as the valveless counterpart to its Valved Exhaust, for drivers who want the valves-open character without the valves; the fortified, sound-deadening mufflers do the work of keeping drone minimal while delivering a fuller, more aggressive tone, and the system suits owners running aftermarket headers who want presence without excessive volume, as well as track days where decibel limits apply.
Construction
Each system is mandrel-bent from T304L stainless steel with generously sized over-axle piping for strong flow, and the mufflers use fortified casings packed with sound-deadening material to control resonance while still opening up the note. Tips are formed from 321 stainless steel and offered across a range of styles and finishes, from single-wall Straight Cut and Slash Cut tips to Chrome Dual Wall tips in Polished Chrome or Black Chrome, with lightweight titanium single-wall tips available for owners chasing the last bit of weight.
Bolt-On and Go
Each unit is quality-checked, fixture-tested for fitment, and foam-packed, and ships as a direct bolt-on with an install guide included; budget time for corroded factory studs or bracket clamps if the car has age on it, and note that the X-pipe fitment is tight, so many owners use a lift and a second set of hands.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the SOUL Performance Exhaust System fit my 981 Boxster or Cayman? Yes. The SOUL Performance Exhaust System fits the 981 Porsche Boxster and Cayman in base, S, and GTS trims from 2013 to 2016, covering the 2.7L and 3.4L flat-six. It is a direct bolt-on cat-back and does not fit the 981 GT4, Boxster Spyder, or Clubsport, which use a separate SOUL system.
Is it valved, and how loud is it? It is valveless. Rather than a loud-and-quiet valve system, it runs at a fuller, more aggressive tone all the time, tuned to sound like a valved exhaust with the valves open. It is noticeably louder than Porsche Sport Exhaust at full song, so there is no quiet mode to drop it back to stock volume.
Will it drone on the highway? SOUL uses fortified muffler casings packed with sound-deadening material specifically to keep drone in check. Owners report minimal drone at steady cruising speeds, with the fuller note coming in under acceleration. Pairing the system with aftermarket headers adds presence without turning it into a constant boom.
Do I need a tune to run it? No. The system is engineered to bolt on without an ECU tune and triggers no check engine lights. Many 981 owners pair it with aftermarket headers for more sound and flow, but the exhaust works correctly on an otherwise stock car with no tuning required.
What is the SOUL Performance Exhaust System made from? It is mandrel-bent from T304L stainless steel with 2.5-inch over-axle piping and fortified, sound-deadening muffler casings, finished with 321 stainless steel tips. SOUL backs the original owner with a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship for street and track use.
What tip options are available? Tips are 321 stainless steel in single-wall Straight Cut or Slash Cut, offered in Signature Satin, Satin Black, Brushed, or Titanium, plus Chrome Dual Wall tips in Polished Chrome or Black Chrome. The titanium single-wall tips save nearly a pound over stainless. Choose the style and finish on the product page to match your car.

Shipping Policy
-+
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well.
For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
