Is the Engine Hatch for McLaren 720S Coupe available for the Spider?

No. RYFT makes the Engine Hatch for McLaren 720S Coupe cars for the fixed roof car only. The Spider has its own rear bodywork with a tonneau cover and stowage for the retractable hardtop, and RYFT offers rear engine cover vents designed for that layout instead.

How does the RYFT engine hatch relate to the factory hatch?

RYFT names the part a rear engine hatch for the 720S Coupe, which points to a full replacement of the factory hatch. Bulletproof Automotive confirms fitment details with RYFT before ordering, including which hinges, latches and seals carry over from the factory part, so the installer has a clear plan.

What engine sits beneath the hatch?

The 720S uses the M840T, a 4.0 liter twin turbocharged V8 developed from the M838T in the 650S. McLaren rates it at 720 PS, which is 710 hp, at 7,500 rpm, with 568 lb ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. McLaren announced those figures when it launched the car at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.

Should the engine hatch be fitted by a specialist?

Yes. The hatch has to align with the rear glass, the rear deck and the bodywork around the engine bay, and it must open, close and latch correctly. A McLaren specialist will transfer the factory hardware, adjust the fit and check that the hatch seals properly against weather and heat.

How should a carbon engine hatch be looked after?

An engine hatch faces both the sun and the heat of the V8 beneath it. Wash only when the car is cool, use a pH neutral shampoo and a soft mitt, and protect the carbon with a UV stable ceramic coating. Avoid parking in strong sun straight after a hard drive when possible.

Description

RYFT Carbon Fiber Rear Engine Hatch for McLaren 720S Coupe

RYFT’s rear engine hatch for McLaren 720S Coupe cars covers the engine bay of the fixed roof car, home to the M840T, a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 developed from the M838T of the 650S and rated at 720 PS, or 710 hp, with 568 lb ft of torque. That engine is the reason many owners chose the 720S, and the hatch above it is the panel people gather around at a show. RYFT builds it in 2×2 twill for the Coupe only.

Design

McLaren itself put carbon at the back of the 720S only through its MSO Defined programme, which offered a gloss visual carbon rear deck and engine cover. The RYFT hatch gives the Coupe a carbon engine cover without the factory option, drawn with the sharper P1 inspired lines of RYFT’s 720S range, and it sits beside the RYFT rear engine vent cover so the two can be fitted as a pair.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
