The R1-Spec features 2.5″ mandrel-bent piping, a high-flow straight-through muffler, and a 4.5″ slant-cut tip. Its piping layout is designed to optimize flow and minimize restrictions, ensuring enhanced performance.

Mandrel Bent Piping – No Pie Cuts

• REMARK avoids the use of unnecessary pie cuts in their exhaust systems. While some enthusiasts appreciate the aesthetic of pie cuts, REMARK believes the look does not justify the potential risks of failure and increased exhaust gas turbulence. Pie cuts were originally a solution for tight bends when bending wasn’t possible, but for most front-engine, rear-exit exhaust systems, they are unnecessary. REMARK’s experienced team, along with CNC mandrel benders, can craft a single pipe with multiple smooth bends.

Point of Failure

• Most exhaust system failures occur at the welds, regardless of the material. Every additional weld for a pie cut bend introduces a potential failure point. Factors like material contamination, poor fitment, improper welding techniques, inadequate gas coverage, or incorrect heat application can compromise a weld. REMARK aims to reduce these risks by minimizing the number of welds in their designs.

Turbulence

• The primary reason for switching to a performance exhaust is to increase power by improving exhaust gas flow. A single mandrel bend is both smoother and stronger than multiple pie cuts forming the same angle. Each weld in a pie cut creates turbulence, disrupting the smooth flow. To visualize this, consider the downhill luge in the Winter Olympics—just as competitors prefer a smooth course, a smoother exhaust system improves performance. Each pie cut weld would act like a bump, hindering the flow. REMARK’s design philosophy is to maintain the smoothest and most efficient path for exhaust gases.
