Please note that products from this brand are not typically kept in stock, and are made-to-order. As these products must be manufactured and then imported from Japan, lead times will vary. Following your order, a representative will contact you to explain the order process, and provide an estimated timeframe for delivery. Following the discussion, should you choose to continue with the order, please note that as the parts will be made for you, there will be no further option for cancellation (if there are any concerns regarding lead time, please advise us immediately during the initial follow-up). At the time of the initial contact and after being informed of the estimated lead time, should you choose to cancel, you may do so within 1 business day. You are encouraged to read and understand the full terms and conditions of the sale here.
For many owners of modified GT-Rs that frequent the circuit, the limitations of the factory differentials have become points of frustration. As opposed to the traditional “locking” limited slip differential (LSD) as people generally know them, the OEM differentials are a torque-biasing type, which under normal conditions function like a standard open differential, and under slip, transfer torque to the wheel with the most grip. These torque-sensing differentials work well for GT-Rs with factory power levels, but for cars with higher power, when the car’s weight is shifted off to one side / corner, the differential lack of a lock function is unable to compensate and ends up permitting wheel spin.
Like those used on race cars and in many high-horsepower applications, the Overtake Saikou Rear Differential is a clutch-type LSD. The difference with clutch type LSDs, as opposed to torque-biasing differentials is in how they handle power. They feature numerous, small friction [clutch] disks that have a set preload (tension), which allows the differential to “lock,” causing the wheel experiencing slip to slow down and regain traction. The rate at which the differential locks (called the ramp) is also adjustable to suit driver preference and driving style, allowing for a predictable engagement and cornering feel.
Produced in collaboration with famed motorsports drivetrain component supplier Drexler Motorsport, the Overtake Saikou Differential was engineered using Drexler’s decades of DTM, FIA GT, WTCC and Formula experience to Overtake’s exacting specifications of improved on-track performance, at no compromises for the R35 GT-R.
Following a major race win, former Formula Ford and Formula Renault Pilot and current NASCAR and GT3 GT-R Driver Alx Danielsson had this to say about the Overtake Saikou Differential:
“That [Overtake Saikou Rear Differential] made ALL the difference and propelled us to the podium yesterday in one of Europe’s biggest time attack race series. We have tried two different diffs before, but they couldn’t handle our car’s 840whp on the massive slicks, but the Overtake just wants more. In fact, it’s so good we now have to start modifying other things just to keep up with it. Amazing! So happy right now!”
With the capability to handle over 1100hp (per differential), the “High Power” version of the Saikou Rear Differential is designed specifically for track-driven GT-Rs with considerably upgraded horsepower levels in mind.
