OS Giken’s Super Lock LSD for USE20 Lexus IS F gives the 2UR-GSE V8 sedan a clutch-type rear differential, the part that turns its 416 hp into drive on a tight exit instead of smoke from the inside rear. The IS F was the first Lexus F model, and on track a heavy V8 sedan unloads its inside rear in every slow corner and the factory differential lets torque escape. OS Giken’s patented pressure ring locks progressively as torque builds. It is the right differential for an IS F that sees track days; for a car used only on the road, the quieter TCD version is worth considering.

Design and Performance

The friction plates run on splines through the side gears, fitting up to twice the plates of competing designs and giving the clamping area a V8 sedan needs. A modest preload keeps it civil in traffic, and the lock builds smoothly under power. Gears are raw-forged and chemically heat treated in a billet case.

About OS Giken

OS Giken was founded in Okayama, Japan in 1973 by Masaharu Okazaki. It built the TC16 and TC24-B1 DOHC cylinder heads for Nissan L-series engines, began making multi-plate racing clutches in 1982 and started supplying OEM limited-slip differentials in 1983. Development of the Super Lock LSD began in 1997, and of the OS-88 sequential gearbox for the Skyline GT-R in 1998.
