How do I know whether the R200 Super Lock LSD fits my car?

This R200 Super Lock LSD fits the long-nose R200 with 10mm ring gear bolts, as OS Giken USA lists it. R200 variants differ in nose length and ring gear bolt size, so check the differential in the car, or ask Bulletproof Automotive with the details, before ordering.

Can it be used in a 240Z converted to an R200?

Yes, if the converted car uses the long-nose R200 with 10mm ring gear bolts. Many 240Z owners make that conversion for strength, and this unit then applies. Cars still on the original R180 take part number NS081-HA instead. Check before ordering.

Is it strong enough for a turbo 300ZX?

The R200 is the stronger of the Z differentials, and the Super Lock adds up to twice the friction plates of competing designs. For high-output VG30DETT builds OS Giken can raise initial torque and fit TCD spec discs for oil cooling.

Why replace a factory viscous or open R200?

An open differential sends drive to the tire with less grip, and a viscous unit locks only after wheelspin and fades with heat. A clutch-type unit locks with torque, so a powerful Z drives out of corners and launches straight.

Will it be livable on the road?

Yes. OS Giken sets the Super Lock with a low preload that still reaches full lock progressively, and its Japanese catalogue rates the design among the quietest LSDs in town. Some plate noise in tight parking turns is normal. Daily use is fine.

Description

OS Giken Long-Nose R200 Super Lock LSD for S30 / S130 Datsun 280Z / 280ZX and Z32 Nissan 300ZX

OS Giken’s Long-Nose R200 Super Lock LSD for S30 / S130 Datsun 280Z / 280ZX and Z32 Nissan 300ZX is the clutch-type unit for the long-nose R200 differential, the larger rear end used across the later Z cars and a common upgrade for earlier ones. The R200 takes far more torque than the R180, which is why L28 stroker and turbo builds and big-power VG30DETT 300ZXs run it, and an open or viscous R200 still lets the inside rear spin once the car is loaded. OS Giken’s patented pressure ring locks progressively under power. It suits a 280Z, 280ZX or Z32 built for the track, the strip or spirited road use.

Fitment Notes

This unit is for the long-nose R200 with 10mm ring gear bolts, as listed by OS Giken USA. Check the ring gear bolt size and nose length of the differential in the car before ordering, because R200 variants differ between models and years.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
