Öhlins Road & Track Coilover System for G8X BMW M3 and M4

Over the course of five decades, Öhlins have developed technology through working with top-notch suspension solutions and high-level racing. Their new road and track kit for the BMW M3 boasts a lightweight design, with most of its components crafted from aluminum. It’s a perfect fit for both RWD and xDrive. Additionally, the shocks have passed rigorous corrosion testing in line with ISO 9227 standards. A two-year limited warranty ensures quality protection for all of their products globally. The Öhlins’ Road & Track team extensively tested a variety of springs to strike the right balance between road and track usability. These springs have withstood all kinds of conditions both on public roads and race tracks. Hence, it is highly recommended to use the included spring rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Öhlins Road & Track coilover system fit both RWD and xDrive BMW M3 and M4 models? The RWD version fits the G80 BMW M3 and G82/G83 BMW M4 (2020 and newer). A separate xDrive-specific version is available for all-wheel-drive variants. Make sure you purchase the correct kit for your drivetrain, as the two are not interchangeable.

Do I need to buy anything else if my BMW has electronically adjustable suspension from the factory? Yes. Vehicles with OE electronic adaptive suspension require the Öhlins cancellation kit for the G8X BMW M3 and M4, sold separately. Without it, the car’s suspension control module may flag errors. The cancellation kit is linked in the product notes.

What spring rate is included, and can I swap it for a different one? Öhlins includes a specific spring rate that their Road & Track team developed and tested across both road and track conditions. They strongly recommend using the included springs, as the setup was tuned around them for the optimal balance between everyday comfort and track performance.

How does the DFV (dual flow valve) technology work? The DFV, or dual flow valve, is a patented Öhlins damping technology that uses two parallel valves, one for low-speed damping and one for high-speed damping. This allows the shock to respond differently depending on the intensity of the input, delivering compliance over small bumps and firm control during aggressive cornering or hard braking.

What warranty does Öhlins offer on this coilover kit? Öhlins backs the Road & Track coilover system with a two-year limited warranty. The shocks are also rebuildable, meaning they can be serviced and refreshed rather than replaced outright, which adds long-term value over non-rebuildable alternatives.

Does this kit use the factory top mounts? Yes. Both the front and rear shocks are designed to work with the original BMW top mounts, which simplifies installation and helps preserve OEM fitment.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less.
