Kline Innovation Valvetronic Exhaust System for Type 142M Ferrari 488

As the successor to the formidable 458, the Ferrari 488 has established itself as the new benchmark in the evolution of supercars. With its powerful 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing an impressive 661hp, the 488 showcases remarkable performance. However, one drawback is the loss of the signature Ferrari V8 scream due to the turbo spool. Therefore, Kline’s primary design objective was to restore the iconic Ferrari howl to the 488, ensuring an exhilarating auditory experience that matches its exceptional power.

The Sound

  • By incorporating high-flow catalysts or racing pipes, the volume is significantly increased, while our distinctive 1D CLR tight radius X-pipe raises the pitch to the desired level expected from a Ferrari. The exhaust system is meticulously crafted from premium F1 grade Inconel 625 superalloy, resulting in substantial weight reduction and adding a unique tonal quality that can only be achieved by the Kline Inconel range, specifically designed for the 488. The Kline exhaust system incorporates a valvetronic design, utilizing the stock valve control system. With the integration of two 488-specific, harmonically tuned micro silencers, the car can be driven stealthily without cabin resonance during cruising while unleashing an unrestricted Ferrari scream when the valves are open.

Stainless Steel

  • When it comes to exhaust manufacturing, the industry standard predominantly relies on the use of 304-grade stainless steel. This grade offers a well-balanced combination of moderate strength, thermochemical stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production. It enables the construction of exhaust systems that strike a practical balance between affordability and functionality, ensuring long-lasting durability. However, it’s important to acknowledge that stainless steel is relatively heavier compared to alternative materials. Although its density is similar to regular steel, it possesses slightly lower tensile strength. As a consequence, stainless steel has limitations in creating high-performance exhaust components and may result in a somewhat subdued and less vibrant exhaust note compared to other materials.

Inconel

  • Inconel 625 stands out as the ultimate choice for ensuring durability and heat resistance in the aerospace industry. This exceptional material finds extensive applications in manufacturing critical components, particularly exhaust turbine blades for high-performance jet engines. Inconel is notably favored in Formula One exhaust systems and has been selected by manufacturers involved in prestigious hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The advantages of Inconel lie in its high tensile strength and excellent thermochemical stability. With a tensile strength comparable to titanium, it achieves an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. This allows for the use of thin sidewall materials while maintaining structural integrity, facilitating the production of lightweight components that demonstrate exceptional resistance to fatigue over extended periods. However, working with Inconel presents challenges due to its difficult machinability and specific welding requirements, demanding specialized skills and time-consuming techniques. Additionally, the unique properties and specialized manufacturing processes associated with Inconel contribute to its higher cost as a raw material.

Carbon Fiber

  • Carbon fiber reinforced polymer exhibits an incredibly high tensile strength to weight ratio, surpassing that of all metals. Its exceptional properties enable the creation of components with extremely low weight and high tensile strength, which can be molded into virtually any shape. We exclusively utilize aerospace and Formula 1-grade pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave at high pressure and temperature, to achieve the lightest and strongest carbon fiber suitable for the most demanding conditions.

Heat Shield

  • For customers prioritizing effective heat management, we provide meticulously designed heat protection solutions crafted from embossed stainless steel sheet. Each heat shield is carefully created and welded by skilled artisans to ensure optimal performance. Integrating these heat shields onto the manifolds results in reduced heat soak and improved scavenging, thereby enhancing overall performance and maintaining a cooler engine temperature.

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, unfortunately our website is unable to compensate dynamically for what can at times be volatile changes in the cost of items due to currency values fluctuating, changes in prices from suppliers, changes in shipping and import duties, and other factors. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. We will continue to do our best to maintain updated prices and we will always continue to offer our price match guarantees as well to ensure our prices are always the best for you. In short, prices may change without notice. It is always advised to give us a call prior to placing your order online to confirm availability and to confirm current pricing.
Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. Please review the full Terms & Conditions here.
We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
