The Urus, Lamborghini’s first venture into the SUV market, is a powerful and capable utility vehicle that showcases Italian automotive ingenuity. However, Kline recognized that the sound it produced was somewhat lacking, failing to truly capture the essence of this formidable Bull.

The Sound

• To address this, Kline implemented a significant improvement by replacing the restrictive factory catalysts with either 100 or 200 cell HJS HDPE motorsport catalysts. This modification not only opened up the sound but also incorporated a 20-degree X-pipe to blend the exhaust gases out of phase, raising the pitch of the exhaust note and eliminating unwanted drone.
• In the rear section, Kline utilized the car’s stock electronic valve control system. When the valves are closed, the gases are directed through a series of chambers and acoustic fill sections, ensuring a smooth and quiet ride during cruising. However, when the valves are open, the silencer is completely bypassed, allowing for an unhindered and commanding roar that perfectly matches the Urus’s true character.

Performance

• Kline’s performance enhancements involved the removal of restrictions from the silencer section and the implementation of a completely free-flow system under valve open. As a result, the exhaust operates at optimal efficiency, delivering moderate power and torque gains that enhance the Urus’s overall performance.
• With the addition of racing pipes, expect an impressive increase of 37 horsepower and 48 Nm of torque.

Stainless Steel

• In the domain of exhaust manufacturing, Kline adheres to the long-standing industry standard of utilizing 304-grade stainless steel. This grade offers a balanced combination of moderate strength, thermochemical stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production, ensuring the construction of exhaust systems that embody a practical fusion of affordability, functionality, and durability. It is important to note that stainless steel, despite its density being similar to regular steel, is relatively heavier compared to alternative materials. Additionally, it possesses slightly lower tensile strength, which imposes certain limitations when aiming to create high-performance exhaust components capable of producing vibrant and captivating exhaust notes.

Inconel

• When prioritizing durability and heat resistance, Kline turns to the ultimate choice: Inconel 625, widely employed in the aerospace industry. This exceptional material finds extensive application in the manufacturing of critical components, particularly exhaust turbine blades for high-performance jet engines. Inconel is highly favored in Formula One exhaust systems and has been selected by manufacturers involved in prestigious hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The advantages of Inconel lie in its exceptional tensile strength and thermochemical stability. Comparable to titanium in terms of tensile strength, Inconel achieves an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for the utilization of thin sidewall materials while upholding structural integrity. This facilitates the production of lightweight components that exhibit remarkable resistance to fatigue over prolonged periods. However, working with Inconel presents challenges due to its difficult machinability and specific welding requirements, demanding specialized skills and time-consuming techniques. Moreover, the unique properties and specialized manufacturing processes associated with Inconel contribute to its higher cost as a raw material.
