The Porsche 992 Carrera, with its progressive yet retro aesthetics and a twin-turbo flat 6 pumping out 380hp, is undoubtedly an impactful and potent machine. However, its exhaust, encumbered by manufacturer and emissions constraints, is somewhat underwhelming. The experts at Kline specialize in transforming muted turbo sounds into an exotic supercar roar.

Sound Quality

• By eliminating the weighty chambered rear silencer and replacing it with a lightweight F1-grade Inconel 625 X pipe and fully bypassable lightweight Inconel silencers, a significant amount of weight is shed. This also elevates the exhaust pitch to a more exotic tonal spectrum. The use of either HJS motorsport catalysts or racing pipes, dramatically opens up the sound, thereby enhancing and amplifying the high-pitched silencer section into an exotic scream. The Kline innovation rear valvetronic setup ensures the car can be driven quietly with the valves closed, however, with the valves open, an unfiltered and raw sound is attainable. The system is perfectly complemented by the addition of beautifully crafted F1-grade pre-preg carbon fiber exhaust tips.

Performance Enhancement

• Like all Porsche turbo models, the tuning potential of the 992 is immense. Over 40hp and 55nm of torque can be achieved by replacing the stock catalysts with their racing pipes and adjusting the ensuing A/F ratios. Coupled with a full ECU remap, gains of over 80hp can be expected.

Stainless Steel

• 304-grade stainless steel is commonly used in the exhaust manufacturing industry due to its strength, thermal stability, cost-effectiveness, and easy fabrication. However, its weight and limited tensile strength may pose issues when used in high-performance exhaust components. The need for thicker walls with stainless steel could also negatively impact the exhaust sound.

Inconel

• Inconel 625, renowned for its sturdiness and heat resistance, is often employed in building vital parts such as high-performance jet engine exhaust turbine blades. It is the preferred material for Formula One exhaust systems and highly-regarded hypercar projects like the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. Despite Inconel’s capacity to withstand temperatures over 1000°C and its emphasis on lightweight design, it presents unique challenges due to its complex machinability and specialized welding requirements.

Carbon Fiber

• Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer, distinguished for its remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, is highly sought after in industries like automotive and aerospace. Its incorporation can result in weight reduction and increased rigidity, thereby improving the overall performance of the vehicle.
