The McLaren 570s is a supercar designed to disrupt the established industry, boasting a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 570 horsepower and achieves a remarkable 0-60 time of 3 seconds. With its ferocious acceleration and exceptional handling, the 570s is a force to be reckoned with. However, in light of the prevailing trend for turbo induction supercars, the 570s is in need of a sonic makeover. The main design objective is to make the 570s scream like a true supercar should.

The Sound

• To achieve this, high-flow catalysts or racing pipes are employed to significantly increase the volume. The signature 1D CLR tight-radius X-pipe, meticulously crafted from premium F1-grade Inconel 625 superalloy, raises the pitch to the level expected of a supercar. The Inconel material not only reduces weight but also adds a distinctive tonal quality that can only be achieved with Kline’s Inconel range. Customers have the option to choose between a racing setup for optimal sound and performance or select from 100 or 200 cell high-flow sports cats. The modular design of the cats section allows for rapid swapping between cats and racing pipes, depending on the intended use.

Performance

• By replacing the factory catalysts with Kline’s 100 CPSI HJS race cats or racing pipes, the performance of the 570s is significantly enhanced. The 100 CPSI race cats offer a power increase of 18 horsepower and 25 Newton-meters of torque, while the racing option provides a substantial boost of 35 horsepower and 40 Newton-meters of torque.

Stainless Steel

• Kline follows the industry standard of utilizing 304-grade stainless steel for exhaust manufacturing. This grade offers a balanced combination of moderate strength, thermochemical stability, cost-effectiveness, and ease of production, ensuring the construction of exhaust systems that are both practical and durable. It’s important to note that while stainless steel has a similar density to regular steel, it is relatively heavier and possesses slightly lower tensile strength. However, it meets the requirements for creating high-performance exhaust components capable of producing captivating exhaust notes.

Inconel

• For utmost durability and heat resistance, Kline turns to the ultimate choice: Inconel 625, widely utilized in the aerospace industry. This exceptional material finds extensive application in the manufacturing of critical components, including exhaust turbine blades for high-performance jet engines. Inconel is highly favored in Formula One exhaust systems and has been selected by manufacturers involved in prestigious hypercar projects such as the McLaren P1 and Aston Martin 177. The advantages of Inconel lie in its exceptional tensile strength and thermochemical stability. Comparable to titanium in terms of tensile strength, Inconel achieves an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for the utilization of thin sidewall materials while maintaining structural integrity. This facilitates the production of lightweight components that exhibit remarkable resistance to fatigue over prolonged periods. However, working with Inconel presents challenges due to its difficult machinability and specific welding requirements, demanding specialized skills and time-consuming techniques. Moreover, the unique properties and specialized manufacturing processes associated with Inconel contribute to its higher cost as a raw material.

Carbon Fiber

• Carbon fiber reinforced polymer offers an extremely high tensile strength-to-weight ratio, surpassing that of all metals. This allows for the creation of exceptionally lightweight components with high tensile strength that can be molded into nearly any desired shape. Kline exclusively uses aerospace and Formula 1-grade pre-preg carbon fiber, cured in an autoclave at high pressure and temperature, to achieve the lightest and strongest.
