Does the wheel come with a boss or hub?

No. A universal Nardi-type steering boss to suit your car is required and is not included. The package holds the steering wheel and the XR horn button. For changing reach, the manufacturer points owners to a universal short boss or spacers, which are separate purchases as well.

Which color options are available?

Three two-tone versions are offered: red leather with black leather, white leather with black leather, and red suede with black leather. Size and shape are the same across the range, at 325mm diameter with the flat Type-F profile, so the choice comes down to the look and feel of the trim.

Is the XR Type-F Katakana Steering Wheel a limited edition?

Yes. The XR Type-F Katakana Steering Wheel is produced in limited numbers, and the manufacturer ends sales once the run is gone. If you want a particular color, order sooner rather than later, because stock is confirmed for each order before the wheel leaves Japan.

Why is the diameter only 325mm?

The 325mm size was chosen to make steering inputs quicker in motorsport use. Paired with it is a thick rim that fills the palm, so a firm grip takes little effort during long sports driving sessions. No weight figure is published for this wheel.

Where does the wheel sit compared with the original?

The flat Type-F shape is designed to put the rim near the original steering position. The exact location still depends on the car and the boss you fit. If it ends up too far away or too close, a universal short boss or spacers can bring it to where you want it.

Description

J’s Racing XR Type-F Katakana Steering Wheel

J’s Racing’s XR Type-F Katakana Steering Wheel brings two-tone trim to the X’treme Racers range, offered in red and black leather, white and black leather, or red suede with black leather. Developed with atc of Italy, it is sized at a compact 325mm to speed up steering inputs. The rim is thick enough to settle into the palm and grip with light force, and the flat Type-F shape aims to keep the wheel near the stock position. Production is limited and ends when stock runs out. It suits a driver on track who wants color and a smaller rim; a commuter content with the stock wheel gains little.

Construction

Each version combines black leather with a contrasting trim of red leather, white leather or red suede. The frame is built stiff so the driver can read what the chassis is doing in fine detail, and the grip swells where the fingers wrap, which makes it easier to put force through the rim. Flat spokes give the palms somewhere to rest.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
