Does the hood include the aluminum vent net?

No. The aluminum net offered for this hood is a separate item and is not included with any version. Paint is also not included. The FRP version arrives in black gelcoat ready for paint, while the two carbon versions show the carbon weave on the top surface.

Is the Type-S Vented Hood for EG6 made for US-market Civics?

No. The Type-S Vented Hood for EG6 cars is designed for the Japanese-market EG6 Civic SiR with the B16A engine and may not fit a US-market EG Civic, so the hood shape and mounting points should be checked first. Bulletproof Automotive can go over the details of your car with you before you order.

How much lighter is it than the factory hood?

The manufacturer quotes about 7kg for the FRP and Carbon and FRP versions, against 14kg for the factory hood, roughly half the weight. No figure is published for the Full Carbon version. The double-layer construction keeps strength equal to the factory hood despite the lower weight.

Which material should I pick?

FRP is the most affordable choice and is meant to be painted to match the car. Carbon and FRP puts a carbon top surface over an FRP underside for the look of carbon at a mid price. Full Carbon uses carbon on both faces and is the most expensive version, with the carbon finish inside and out.

How does the hood lower engine temperatures?

The manufacturer states that the calculated design creates turbulence over the hood that draws hot air from the engine bay, reliably lowering coolant and intake air temperatures compared with the factory hood. No temperature figures are published, so the size of the drop depends on climate, cooling setup and driving.

Description

J’s Racing Type-S Vented Hood for EG6 Honda Civic

J’s Racing’s Type-S Vented Hood for EG6 Civic SiR hatchbacks, the Aero Bonnet Type-S in J’s catalogue, uses a calculated design to create turbulence over the top of the hood, and that flow pulls hot air out of the engine bay. J’s Racing says the result is a reliable drop in coolant and intake air temperature compared with the factory hood. A double-layer structure gives strength equal to stock, while the FRP and Carbon and FRP versions weigh about 7kg against the 14kg original. It suits an EG6 that works hard on track or in hot weather; a car that never sees heat soak is buying mostly the look.

Construction

All three versions use the factory hood striker, so the stock latch carries over. The carbon versions are laid up from a single piece of carbon cloth, which J’s Racing credits for their clean, outstanding finish.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
