J’s Racing’s Reinforced Front Subframe for AP1 and AP2 S2000s, sold in Japan as the SPL reinforced front subframe, starts with a brand-new genuine AP2 front subframe and adds the welding the Osaka tuner learned it needed in Super Taikyu and time attack. Because the S2000 subframe is bolted rather than welded to the body and gathers every suspension arm mount, it takes concentrated loads and tires with mileage. J’s Racing says this part brings a high-mileage early AP1 back to new-car rigidity and adds stiffness to a late AP1 or AP2. It is aimed at hard-driven cars; a low-mileage weekend car may not show the symptoms it cures.

Construction

Extra spot welds and full seam welding raise torsional rigidity, and welded plates reinforce the bases of the factory eccentric cams so they cannot deform or sag and shift the alignment. Skilled craftsmen build each subframe by hand to stop welding heat from distorting it. The finished part weighs almost the same as the factory one and carries an anti-rust paint finish.

Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
