J’s Racing’s Hyper Spring for FK8 and FL5 Civic Type R owners is a sports lowering spring developed separately for each generation and matched to the factory adaptive dampers, so the +R, Sport and Comfort modes keep working. The FK8 set drops 15mm at both ends and gives the older chassis a firmer feel of road contact on stock tires; the FL5 set drops 25mm in front and 20mm in the rear. It suits an owner who likes how the Type R drives and wants less fender gap, not one already shopping for coilovers.

Design and Performance

The Hyper Spring for FK8 runs 2.7 to 4.85 kgf/mm in front and 2.9 to 4.67 kgf/mm in the rear; the FL5 set runs 3.5 to 5.0 and 2.5 to 4.5 kgf/mm. Both progressive rates stay soft at street loads and firm up under cornering and braking. The steel is low-temperature annealed to 200kg-class tensile strength and finished in zinc powder coat.

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer.
