Will the Engine-Transmission Mounts for GD3 cars fit a CVT or automatic Fit?

No. The Engine-Transmission Mounts for GD3 Fits are listed for front-wheel-drive GD3 cars with a manual transmission only. Owners of CVT or automatic cars, and of the 4WD GD4, should not order this set, because the manufacturer does not list it for those versions.

How much stiffer are these mounts?

The bushing section is about 20 percent stronger than the factory part, according to the manufacturer. That is a moderate step rather than a solid mount, chosen to sharpen shift feel and make drive transmission more direct while still damping some of the vibration from the engine.

Will I notice more vibration?

Yes, somewhat. The manufacturer notes that a little more engine vibration is transmitted into the cabin than with the factory mounts. Because the bushings still absorb a moderate amount, the set stays usable on the street, unlike fully rigid mounts made with Duracon bushings.

Is installation difficult?

The mounts share the shape of the factory parts, so they install as a direct bolt-on replacement with no fabrication. You do not need to send your old mounts back as a core. Supporting the engine safely while each mount is swapped is the main consideration for the installer.

Should I add a torque damper as well?

It helps. The manufacturer states that the effect of the mount set improves further when it is used together with an engine torque damper, which restrains engine movement in a different way. The two parts complement each other on a Fit that is driven hard.

Description

J’s Racing Engine-Transmission Mounts for GD3 Honda Fit

J’s Racing’s Engine-Transmission Mounts for GD3 Fits with a manual gearbox replace the factory mounts with units whose bushings are about 20 percent stronger, a change J’s Racing calls essential once a car sees hard sports driving. Firmer mounts keep the engine and gearbox from shifting under load, which sharpens the shift feel and makes the drive reach the wheels more directly and dependably. The mounts copy the factory shape, so they bolt straight in. This set suits a manual GD3 driven hard on twisty roads or at autocross; owners who value a silent cabin above all should note the extra engine vibration it brings.

Design and Performance

J’s Racing deliberately stopped short of a solid mount. Fully rigid designs, such as mounts using Duracon bushings, transmit almost everything, while these bushings still absorb a moderate amount of vibration, which is why J’s Racing rates them for both street and circuit use. Pairing the set with an engine torque damper, it says, makes the effect stronger still.

Features

Bushings roughly 20 percent stronger than the factory parts
Improved shift feel and more direct drive transmission
Still absorbs a moderate amount of vibration, unlike rigid mounts
Same shape as the factory mounts for bolt-on fitting
No core return of your old mounts required

Applications

Honda Fit: GD3 2WD, manual transmission | 2001-2008 | 1.5L L15A

Notes

For front-wheel-drive GD3 Fits with a manual transmission only
Expect somewhat more engine vibration to reach the cabin than with the factory mounts
J’s Racing recommends combining the set with an engine torque damper for a stronger effect
The number of mounts in the set is not specified by J’s Racing
This set is produced in Japan and supplied through J’s Racing USA; Bulletproof Automotive confirms the lead time and stock as soon as you order

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
