How firm is the ride?

Firmer than a typical street coilover. The manufacturer describes the RS as a high-spec street damper focused on sports driving, with spring rates of 10kg/mm front and 8kg/mm rear, higher than common street kits. The 15-step damping range lets you soften the setting for daily use, within the limits of those springs.

How low can the Black Series Coilovers for FN2 cars go?

The manufacturer recommends lowering the Black Series Coilovers for FN2 cars by 20 to 40mm at the front and 10 to 30mm at the rear. Full-length adjustment with shortened cases and stroke means the car can be set within that range without giving up bump travel.

Yes. The front pillow upper mounts are adjustable, allowing fine camber changes, and the front bracket mounting position has been altered so the kit reaches a maximum of about 4 degrees of front camber. That range suits circuit setups that call for extra negative camber at the front.

Can the dampers be rebuilt?

Yes. The manufacturer states that every Black Series damper can be overhauled, so the kit can be serviced as it ages. Replacement damper cartridges are also offered for the front and rear individually, which helps if one corner is damaged. Contact us for overhaul and cartridge pricing.

Can the kit be installed on a US-market Civic?

No. The kit is made exclusively for the FN2 Civic Type R, built from 2007 to 2011 for Europe and the UK with the 2.0L K20Z4. Honda never sold the FN2 in the US, and no US-market Civic is listed by the manufacturer for this kit.

Description

J’s Racing Black Series Coilovers for FN2 Honda Civic Type R

J’s Racing’s Black Series Coilovers for FN2 Civic Type R owners are the Black Series Damper RS, the first fully original coilover J’s Racing has made, built on more than 20 years of race know-how from Super Taikyu and other categories. Unlike street-biased kits, the RS is a high-spec street damper tuned for sports driving, with spring rates of 10kg/mm front and 8kg/mm rear for a lower stance and a cornering-focused balance. Full-length adjustment and short cases preserve bump travel when lowered. It suits an FN2 driven briskly on back roads and at track days; owners who want a soft ride will find it firm.

Design and Performance

The series uses monotube dampers, with an inverted large-diameter design where a strut needs extra rigidity. An adjustable pillow upper mount at the front allows fine camber changes, and a relocated front bracket mounting position extends the range to about 4 degrees. Every damper can be overhauled, so the kit can be serviced rather than replaced.

About J’s Racing

J’s Racing was established in Osaka in 1989, as VTEC engines and lightweight Civics and Integras were changing what a Honda could do, and it has built parts for Hondas ever since. The company develops engine response, suspension, braking, cooling and aerodynamics together as one system, then proves the parts in time attack, gymkhana, endurance and circuit racing. Its Fit lapped Tsukuba Circuit in 1’00.459, and its naturally aspirated AP1 S2000, the Maou car, became the company’s reference build for the Honda roadster. Every J’s Racing part is designed and tested in Japan, and J’s Racing USA in Carson, California handles distribution in the United States.

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
