The IPD 82mm Competition Plenum for the 996 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S features an innovative, patented “Y” design that channels air more effectively to each cylinder bank, reducing turbulence and increasing airflow velocity. Power

All IPD Plenums provide substantial power and torque gains, with even greater performance achieved when paired with larger throttle bodies. Each IPD “Competition” Plenum utilizes the next largest throttle body size offered by Porsche; for the Competition Carrera, this involves upgrading the factory 74mm throttle body to Porsche’s 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body. All Competition Plenums are optimized to perform on vehicles equipped with high-performance exhaust systems, with greater benefits from more extensive setups, including headers, catalytic converters, and mufflers. Balancing optimized air intake and exhaust creates a well-rounded performance package, enabling the engine to intake and expel more air, thus generating additional power and torque.
Full power improvements are achieved once the factory ECU/DME completes the necessary “adaptation” process. This adaptation can be accelerated by performing a series of “hard pulls” or spirited full-throttle acceleration runs through the gears, ideally on a closed course circuit.

Engineering

IPD has pioneered another Plenum design with the Competition Carrera Plenum. Laminar flows and volumetric efficiencies have been further enhanced with our unique and innovative internal merge collector area. This completely new approach has yielded not only great performance gains but more linear power delivery and improved throttle response as well. Gains vary depending on pre-existing mods and quality of after-market exhaust installed. As we all “should” know, horsepower and torque become harder to find and typically more expensive as we climb the proverbial performance ladder. That being said, performance components yield different power gains depending on the order they were installed. IPD tests and evaluates all products on bone stock cars, this establishes a level playing field and a better “apples to apples” comparison. The Competition Carrera Plenum however is designed to work with applications that are already moderately to heavily modified.
The 996 Carrera Comp Plenum is offered with two silicone hose options. Part #96182 includes a custom IPD silicone hose designed to fit the 82mm GT3 throttle body and the factory Porsche air box. Part #96182-RH features a straight silicone reducer hose coupler compatible with the 82mm GT3 throttle body and most popular aftermarket air intake systems that replace the factory air box.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US.
