The IPD 82mm Competition Plenum for the 981 Porsche Cayman GT4 and GT4 Clubsport is the result of an extensive R&D program aimed at maximizing performance for track-focused drivers. Available exclusively as a “Competition” model, this Plenum upgrades the factory 74mm throttle body to the larger 82mm throttle body from the 997 GT3. This combination has proven to be exceptionally popular among enthusiasts, delivering significantly enhanced power and responsiveness. Designed for those looking to push their 981 Cayman GT4 to new performance heights, the IPD 82mm Competition Plenum is the ideal upgrade for optimal airflow and throttle response.

Engineering

The 981 intake is nearly identical to the 987.2 intake, though Porsche made a few upgrades with the 981—most notably, drawing outside air from both driver and passenger intakes, rather than just the driver’s side as in the 986, 987, and 987.2 models. IPD has developed a custom silicone hose precisely designed to fit the larger 82mm throttle body and significantly improve airflow. The 981 Plenum also benefits from an internal dimpling effect, which helps control the boundary layer and maximize airflow. Similar to how a dimpled golf ball travels farther than a smooth one, controlled turbulent air reduces friction, allowing it to “tumble” more efficiently over a given surface area.

Power

The 981 Competition Plenum delivers power gains nearly identical to those of the 987.2 Competition Plenum, achieving 20 horsepower and 16 foot-pounds of torque at the wheels. Most of the power increase begins around 4000rpm, continues steadily through to redline, and fully materializes in the 6000rpm range. IPD’s performance gains remain above factory power curves across the entire RPM range.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do.
