HKS’s Super Turbo Muffler for BNR34 Nissan Skyline GT-R is a SUS304 stainless cat-back for the RB26DETT, running an 85mm straight pipe from the catalyst flange back to a single 124mm tail. HKS sized it to stay effective from a stock engine to RB26 builds over 600PS, yet measured it at 94 dB against 95 dB for the factory system, so the change is in tone rather than volume. It suits the R34 owner who plans more power and still drives the car on the street.

Development and Testing

HKS set out to combine exhaust efficiency with lower sound pressure. The 85mm straight pipe and the straight-through main shell and tail pipe improve flow, while the sound was designed to meet the JASMA standard in street driving, at idle, from a cold start, at high speed and when cruising quietly, with low exhaust resonance removed from the cabin. The Super Turbo Muffler for BNR34 also uses the HKS Slotted Tail, inspired by an owl feather, which releases air at the tip to cut air friction vibration and, by HKS figures, about 2dB.
