GiroDisc rotors feature U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aluminum hats and proprietary cast iron discs with a curved vane design for optimal cooling. A floating mount system with high-strength alloy steel pins ensures durability, thermal expansion management, and reduced noise, delivering advanced performance and precision engineering.
GiroDisc manufactures the central hat section of its rotors using U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. The disc component is crafted from GiroDisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and fully machined in-house. Designed with a curved vane configuration, the rotor acts as a centrifugal pump, channeling cooling air through the disc — a design originally developed for racing applications. The rotor and hat are connected using a floating mount system featuring 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins. These pins, produced by GiroDisc in the USA to precise specifications, are cadmium-plated for enhanced corrosion resistance. They bear the braking load while preserving axial and radial float between the hat and disc. Secured by class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers, the pins are equipped with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side. This design mitigates noise during cold operation while accommodating thermal expansion and enabling the rotor to self-center between brake pads.
Brake rotors have long been an underappreciated component in performance car braking systems. Traditional one-piece rotors are heavy, retain heat, and reduce braking efficiency while increasing unsprung weight, which negatively impacts handling. Founded in 2003, GiroDisc set out to revolutionize this area by designing and manufacturing two-piece brake rotors engineered to perform flawlessly under extreme conditions. GiroDisc’s fully floating design utilizes tension hardware to ensure silent operation on the street while delivering track-ready performance. By focusing exclusively on this specialized niche, GiroDisc has advanced its engineering and manufacturing processes to industry-leading standards. Enthusiasts worldwide have enhanced their existing brake systems with GiroDisc rotors, often avoiding the expense and complexity of a big brake kit upgrade. Based in Bellingham, Washington, GiroDisc handles every aspect of production — from design and engineering to manufacturing and fulfillment—on site.
