Which Corvettes take the GiroDisc Front Rotors for C7?

The GiroDisc Front Rotors for C7 are listed by GiroDisc for the Corvette Z06 and the Corvette Grand Sport. They replace the factory front discs on those models and reuse the original front calipers with no adapters. Owners of other C7 versions should confirm their front brake package with us first.

How much lighter is the GiroDisc C7 front rotor than stock?

GiroDisc weighs the assembly at 22.0 lb against 23.6 lb for the factory front rotor, about 1.6 lb saved per corner. The larger benefit on a Z06 or Grand Sport is thermal, since the curved vane ring and floating hat shed heat across repeated hard stops.

Do the C7 front rotors need new calipers or a brake kit?

No. GiroDisc describes this as a direct replacement for the original disc, so the factory calipers bolt back on without modification. Because rotor size and caliper hardware stay the same, the brake balance and ABS behavior that Chevrolet calibrated for the C7 are kept as delivered.

What happens when the C7 front rings wear out?

The aluminum hats are reused. GiroDisc sells D1-147 replacement rings in pairs with fresh mounting hardware, and they bolt to these hats once the iron reaches the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge. A crack that reaches the outer edge of a ring is also a reason to replace it.

Why do the cap screws on a GiroDisc C7 rotor feel loose?

The ring is meant to float on its drive pins so it can expand with heat and center itself. Spring washers keep it quiet when cold. The cap screws are set to no more than 60 inch pounds, and tightening them further would stop the float.

Description

GiroDisc Front Rotors for C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport

GiroDisc’s Front Rotors for C7 Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport models swap the factory one-piece front discs for a two-piece floating design that bolts on with no modifications. GiroDisc weighs each assembly at 22.0 lb against 23.6 lb for the stock rotor, so the gain is less about mass and more about heat: a slotted ring of GiroDisc’s own USA-poured iron, curved cooling vanes and a 6061-T6 aluminum hat. They suit the C7 owner who laps the car hard and prefers renewing rings to buying whole rotors.

Fitment and Installation

Each assembly bolts to the hub where the factory disc sat and the stock calipers refit without spacers, so the brake bias and ABS calibration Chevrolet set carry over. Twelve cadmium-plated drive pins locate the ring, secured by class 12.9 cap screws. GiroDisc labels each rotor left or right, because the curved vanes only pump air outward on the correct side.

Direct bolt-on replacement for the factory Z06 and Grand Sport front discs
GiroDisc-measured 22.0 lb per assembly against 23.6 lb for the stock rotor

Anti-noise spring washers that let the ring grow with heat without cold rattle
Slotted friction face that wipes away water film and keeps the surface clean
Hat machined from US-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-specification aluminum

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
