Do the GiroDisc Front Rotors for C6 fit the base Corvette?

No. The GiroDisc Front Rotors for C6 listed here fit the Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport, which share the larger front brake package. The base C6 uses smaller front brakes and is not covered, so confirm the model before ordering.

How much front weight does a C6 Z06 lose with GiroDisc rotors?

GiroDisc weighs its front assembly at about 19.2 lb against 25.6 lb for the stock disc, so each front corner sheds around 6.4 lb. That mass is both rotating and unsprung, which helps acceleration and lets the suspension respond more quickly.

Are the C6 Grand Sport calipers reused with these rotors?

Yes. The rotor is a direct replacement for the factory disc, so the original Grand Sport and Z06 calipers bolt straight back on. Because nothing about the caliper or diameter changes, the brake bias and ABS calibration Chevrolet set up are preserved.

Which rings renew the C6 Z06 front rotors from GiroDisc?

GiroDisc D1-117 rings, listed at 355mm, bolt to the existing aluminum hats once the originals reach the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge. They are sold in pairs with new hardware and fit GiroDisc hats only, not the factory Corvette parts.

How should new C6 front rotors be prepared for an HPDE weekend?

GiroDisc recommends a bed-in procedure for any new disc. Bed the rotors in on the road with progressively firmer stops and a cool-down drive, then check wheel torque before the first session. Never tighten the drive pin cap screws beyond 60 in-lb.

Description

GiroDisc Front Rotors for C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport

GiroDisc’s Front Rotors for C6 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Grand Sport cut about 6.4 lb from each front corner, by GiroDisc’s figures of 19.2 lb against 25.6 lb for the factory disc. They are a direct replacement needing no modifications and work with the original calipers. For C6 owners who run HPDE weekends, this is the upgrade that makes the most of the stock brake system before anyone reaches for a big brake kit.

Bolt-On and Go

The Front Rotors for C6 Z06 and Grand Sport mount to the hub as the factory discs did and the original calipers refit unchanged, keeping brake bias and ABS efficiency intact. Each cast iron ring floats on a 6061-T6 aluminum hat through 10 cadmium-plated drive pins, with spring washers that stop the cold rattle of floating discs.

About 19.2 lb per rotor versus 25.6 lb for the factory part, per GiroDisc
No modifications; factory calipers retained
10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins
Curved vanes that pump air outward through the disc
Class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
