Which cars take the GiroDisc 350mm Front Rotors for 997?

The GiroDisc 350mm Front Rotors for 997 are listed by GiroDisc for the 997 generation Porsche 911 running a 350mm factory front disc. GiroDisc does not name individual trims on this part, so measure the current front disc or contact Bulletproof Automotive with the details of the car before ordering and we will confirm the fit.

Do these front rotors need spacers or modified calipers?

No. GiroDisc describes this rotor as a direct replacement for the factory disc with no modifications required. It bolts to the hub, the original calipers mount in their usual position, and because the diameter matches the stock part, the factory brake bias and ABS calibration stay as Porsche engineered them.

What happens when the front friction rings wear out?

The aluminum hats are kept and only the iron rings are replaced. GiroDisc sells them as part number D1-032, supplied in pairs with fresh mounting hardware. Replace the rings once they reach the minimum thickness marked on the hat and ring edge, or sooner if a crack runs out to the edge of the ring.

Why does this floating rotor stay quiet when the brakes are cold?

Anti-noise spring washers sit on the rotor side of each of the ten drive pins. They let the iron ring grow as it heats while holding it firmly when cold, which removes the clatter usually associated with floating race rotors and keeps a road-driven 997 quiet around town.

How tight should the drive pin cap screws be on a 997 rotor?

Never beyond 60 in-lb, which is 7 Nm. The cap screws can look slightly loose by design, because the ring has to float on the hat. Tightening them further takes away that float, so leave them at the GiroDisc figure even if they appear loose to someone used to one-piece rotors.

Description

GiroDisc 350mm Front Rotors for 997 Porsche 911

GiroDisc’s 350mm Front Rotors for 997 Porsche 911 models swap the factory front discs for a two-piece floating assembly: a slotted ring cast from GiroDisc’s own high-carbon iron, carried on a 6061-T6 aluminum hat. GiroDisc rates it a direct replacement that needs no modifications, so the original calipers go back on and the brake bias and ABS behave as Porsche set them. It suits the 997 owner who wants cooler, lighter-feeling front brakes for track days without the cost and rebalancing of a big brake kit.

Bolt-On and Go

Each rotor bolts to the hub where the factory disc sat and works with the original calipers, with no spacers or machining. Ten cadmium-plated alloy steel drive pins carry the braking load while letting the ring float, and anti-noise spring washers stop the cold rattle floating rotors are known for. Curved internal vanes pump air from the hub out through the disc on every lap.

Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
