What does the GXR45-67 Compressor Housing do?

It replaces the standard compressor housing on the GXR45-67 super core with one cut to a 0.25 inch map groove. Garrett lists it for racing classes whose rules call for a 0.25 inch map groove and names PanAm as an example. The super core, part 934173-5003S, is listed for classes with no map groove rule.

Will this housing fit a GXR45-73?

No. Garrett lists part 934809-0009 for the GXR45-67, which uses a 67.9mm compressor inducer. The GXR45-73 has a 73.9mm inducer and its own 0.25 inch map groove housing, part 934809-0010. Order the housing that matches the compressor wheel inside the super core on the engine.

Do I need this housing if my class has no map groove rule?

No. Garrett offers the GXR45-67 Compressor Housing as an option for classes that specify a 0.25 inch map groove. Where no such rule applies, the housing already fitted to the 934173-5003S super core is the configuration Garrett lists, and buying this part adds cost without a stated gain.

How much power is the GXR45-67 rated for?

Garrett rates the GXR45-67 at 725 to 1475 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 8.0L. The number is calculated from compressor choke flow and stands for potential flywheel horsepower, so the real result depends on fuel, boost, the turbine housing chosen and the calibration.

Can a speed sensor be fitted to the GXR45-67?

Garrett states that a speed sensor can be installed in the compressor housing to watch shaft speed and guard against overspeed, and it caps this turbocharger at 109,000 rpm. Sensors are sold separately. Garrett does not say whether the map groove housing carries a sensor port, so confirm that before ordering.

Description

Garrett GXR45-67 Compressor Housing, 0.25 Inch Map Groove

Garrett’s GXR45-67 Compressor Housing is the optional 0.25 inch map groove housing for the G-XRace GXR45-67 super core, made for racing classes whose rules set a 0.25 inch map groove, with PanAm named by Garrett as one of them. The super core itself ships as part 934173-5003S, which Garrett lists for classes with no map groove rule, so this housing has one job: bringing that turbocharger into line with a rule book that specifies the groove. If no class rule governs your compressor housing, it is not worth buying, because the housing already on the super core is the one Garrett intends for that case.

The Turbocharger It Belongs To

The GXR45-67 pairs a 67.9mm inducer and 102mm exducer compressor wheel with Garrett XBoost technology, which Garrett credits with 29 percent more compressor flow than the G45-1125, along with higher pressure ratio capability and better efficiency at high flow. It uses the same twin-scroll T4 and V-band turbine housings as the G-Series, so a G45 owner can move up without changing the exhaust side.

Features

0.25 inch map groove, the dimension Garrett lists for classes that carry a 0.25 inch map groove rule
Matched to the GXR45-67 compressor wheel: 67.9mm inducer, 102mm exducer, 44 trim
Fits the GXR45-67 super core 934173-5003S in place of its standard compressor housing

Specifications

Garrett part number: 934809-0009
Map groove: 0.25 in
Compressor wheel: GXR45-67, 67.9mm inducer and 102mm exducer
Matching super core: 934173-5003S
Maximum turbocharger speed: 109,000 rpm

Applications

The GXR45-67 Compressor Housing is not vehicle specific. Garrett lists it for one turbocharger:

Garrett G-XRace GXR45-67 super core: 934173-5003S
Engine displacement: 2.0L to 8.0L
Power range: 725 to 1475 horsepower (Garrett rating)

Notes

Compressor housing only; the GXR45-67 super core and turbine housing are sold separately
Confirm the map groove dimension your class rules call for before ordering; this is the 0.25 inch version
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running the GXR45-67 above 109,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
