Which cores fit the GTX50 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.23 A/R?

Five Gen II cores appear on the Garrett table for the 1.23 A/R GTX50 Turbine Housing Kit: two GTX5009R versions with 76mm and 80mm compressors and three GTX5020R versions with 76mm, 80mm and 88mm compressors. Older GT and GTX 5008, 5009, 5018 and 5020 super cores accept it as well.

Is this a GT50 or a GTX50 housing?

Garrett labels this kit as a GTX50 turbine housing, while some suppliers list it as GT50 or GTX50. The name difference does not change fitment, because Garrett states the kit is interchangeable with both GT and GTX 50 series super cores of the 5008, 5009, 5018 and 5020 types.

How does the 1.23 A/R compare with the 0.96 and 1.39?

It is the middle size. The 0.96 A/R spools fastest and suits smaller engines; the 1.39 A/R flows the most and suits large engines at high rpm. The 1.23 A/R balances the two, which is why it fits a wide range of GTX50 builds.

Does this housing fit a G50 core?

Garrett does not list it for the G-Series G50 or G-XRace GXR50 cores. Those use a 94mm exducer turbine and their own G50 housings, parts 761208-0079 to -0082. This GTX50 housing is listed for the 91mm exducer GTX50 turbine wheel.

What power are the GTX50 cores rated for?

Garrett rates the GTX5009R Gen II at 875 to 1700 horsepower and the GTX5020R Gen II at 1075 to 2050, on engines from 2.5L to 11.0L. The figures come from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower, so the build and calibration decide the outcome.

Description

Garrett GTX50 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.23 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s GTX50 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.23 A/R is the middle of three exhaust housings Garrett lists for its GTX5009R and GTX5020R Gen II super cores, with a T6 inlet flange, a V-band outlet and a free-float layout. It sits between the quick 0.96 A/R and the high-flow 1.39 A/R, which makes it a sound default for large engines in Garrett’s 2.5L to 11.0L range that need both response and top-end flow. Very small engines will spool better on the 0.96, and engines pushing the 2050 horsepower top of the GTX5020R rating may want the 1.39.

Interchangeability

Garrett states its GTX50 turbine kits are interchangeable with GT and GTX 5008, 5009, 5018 and 5020 super cores, and that all Gen II GTX turbochargers accept existing GT and GTX turbine housings. The housing surrounds a 99mm inducer, 91mm exducer turbine wheel shared by every core on the list.

Features

1.23 A/R, the middle of three GTX50 sizes
T6 inlet flange and V-band outlet with an undivided entry
Free float, for boost control from an external wastegate
The GTX50 Turbine Housing Kit stays in place when moving between GT and GTX 50 series cores

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
