Who should buy the 1.23 A/R GTX47 Turbine Housing Kit?

Builders with large engines or high rpm targets running a GTX4709R or GTX4720R Gen II core. The 1.23 A/R GTX47 Turbine Housing Kit gives more turbine flow and less backpressure than the 1.08, which helps at the top end, but boost arrives later on a small engine.

Does it suit the 88mm GTX4720R Gen II?

Yes. Garrett lists both GTX47 housings for the 88mm GTX4720R Gen II, part 851285-5015S. The large compressor flows the most air in the GTX47 family, and the larger 1.23 A/R housing helps the turbine side keep up on an engine that can feed it.

Is the inlet divided?

No. Garrett lists both GTX47 housings with an undivided T6 inlet. They suit a single-entry T6 manifold, and a twin-scroll T6 manifold would lose its pulse separation at the housing inlet, so it is not the right pairing for a divided manifold.

Does this housing fit GTX50 cores?

No. Garrett lists separate GTX50 housings, such as part 761208-0032, for the GTX5009R and GTX5020R Gen II, which use a larger 99mm by 91mm turbine wheel. The GTX47 housings are sized for the 93mm by 84mm wheel and are listed only for 47 series cores.

What maximum speed applies to the GTX47 cores?

Garrett lists 102,500 rpm for the GTX4709R Gen II and 85,000 rpm for the GTX4720R Gen II. Running above those limits is at the risk of the owner. A speed sensor in the compressor housing lets the tuner watch shaft speed, and Garrett sells the sensor separately.

Description

Garrett GTX47 Turbine Housing Kit, 1.23 A/R T6 Inlet, Free Float

Garrett’s GTX47 Turbine Housing Kit in 1.23 A/R is the larger, freer-flowing of the two housings Garrett lists for its GTX47 Gen II cores, keeping the T6 inlet, V-band outlet and free-float layout of the 1.08 A/R version. It suits large engines and high-rpm builds where the turbine side needs to pass more exhaust, especially with the 88mm GTX4720R Gen II compressor. It is more housing than a small engine can drive quickly, and those builds are better off with the 1.08 A/R.

The GTX47 Turbine

Both GTX47 housings surround the same 93mm inducer, 84mm exducer turbine wheel used across the GTX4709R and GTX4720R Gen II cores. Garrett rates those cores from 825 up to 1950 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 10.0L, figures based on compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower. The 1.23 A/R is aimed at the upper end.

Features

1.23 A/R, the larger of the two GTX47 housings, for lower backpressure
T6 inlet flange with an undivided entry, V-band outlet
Free-float housing for an external wastegate
Suits the GTX47 Turbine Housing Kit buyer running the 88mm GTX4720R Gen II

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
