What comes with the GTX3582R Gen II Super Core?

The GTX3582R Gen II Super Core is the water-cooled center housing rotating assembly with its Gen II compressor housing installed. The turbine housing is chosen and bought separately from the GT35 range, which Garrett lists in T3, T4 and V-band inlet versions from 0.61 to 1.06 A/R.

How much horsepower can a GTX3582R Gen II make?

Garrett rates it at 450 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 4.5L engines. The rating is worked out from compressor choke flow, so it is potential flywheel horsepower. Reaching the upper half takes serious fuel delivery, high boost, strong intercooling and a calibration that keeps the turbo below its speed limit.

GTX3582R or GTX3576R Gen II?

Both share the 68mm GT35 turbine and housings. The GTX3576R uses a 58mm compressor and a 750 horsepower rating and comes on boost sooner. The GTX3582R moves to a 66mm compressor and a 900 horsepower rating, so it is the better pick when the target is above roughly 650 horsepower.

What turbine A/R suits a GTX3582R on a 2.0L?

Garrett offers 0.61 to 1.06 A/R GT35 housings. On a 2.0L, a 0.63 or 0.82 A/R usually gives a usable powerband, while a larger engine or a drag build chasing peak power often runs 1.01 or 1.06. The Garrett exhaust flow chart helps confirm the choice.

How fast can this turbocharger spin?

Garrett lists 130,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed for the GTX3582R Gen II, and running beyond it is at the risk of the owner. Because high-output builds can approach that limit, a Garrett speed sensor in the machined compressor housing port is a sensible addition. It is sold separately.

Description

Garrett GTX3582R Gen II Super Core, 66mm Standard Rotation

Garrett’s GTX3582R Gen II Super Core puts a 66mm Gen II compressor on the GT35 frame, and Garrett rates it at 450 to 900 horsepower on engines from 2.0L to 4.5L. That makes it one of the most capable mid frame cores Garrett builds: a fully built 2.0L to 3.0L engine on race fuel or E85 can use most of that range, and a 3.5L to 4.5L engine can reach 700 horsepower without straining it. It is overkill for a street car under 500 horsepower, where the GTX3576R Gen II responds better.

Construction

Garrett runs the GTX3582R Gen II on an 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing in a water-cooled center housing. The compressor wheel was redeveloped with computational fluid dynamics, and Garrett credits Gen II with up to 20 percent more horsepower than the first-generation GTX. The compressor housing is new, with a fully machined inlet, outlet and ported shroud and a machined speed sensor port.

Features

66mm Gen II compressor inducer with an 82mm exducer
Water-cooled center housing with a dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge
Fits all existing standard rotation GT35 turbine housing kits

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 6662
Compressor inducer and exducer: 66mm and 82mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing, water cooled
Maximum turbocharger speed: 130,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

Applications

The GTX3582R Gen II Super Core is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 4.5L
Power range: 450 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett GT35 free-float kits: T3 or T4 inlet in 0.63, 0.82 or 1.06 A/R; V-band inlet in 0.61, 0.83 or 1.01 A/R

Notes

The turbine housing is not included, and the GT35 housings Garrett lists for this core require an external wastegate
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
Turn 14 lists this part as replacing the earlier GTX3582R super core 836047-5002S

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Rest assured that any order you place on line will be at zero risk to you in this area. If in the event your order cannot be fulfilled at the original intended website price we will offer you a 100% refund, no questions asked. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
