Is the GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit in 0.63 A/R a good fit for a 2.0L?

It is the version of the GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit best suited to small engines. Garrett lists the core for 2.0L to 4.5L, and the 0.63 A/R T3 housing gives the quickest spool of the T3 options, which helps a 2.0L engine use a 66mm compressor. The trade-off is more exhaust backpressure at high rpm.

What does Garrett rate the GTX3582R Gen II at?

450 to 900 horsepower, on engines from 2.0L to 4.5L. Garrett calculates the range from the choke flow of the compressor map, so it describes potential flywheel horsepower. What a particular engine makes depends on its fuel system, intercooling, boost target and tuning.

Does this housing bolt to a T3 manifold?

Yes. The 740902-0012 housing has a T3 turbine inlet and a V-band outlet. It is free float with no internal wastegate, so the T3 manifold must carry an external wastegate. Garrett also lists T4 and V-band inlet GT35R housings for this core.

Is the center housing water cooled?

Yes. Garrett lists a water-cooled center housing and a dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge among the GTX3582R Gen II features. The installation therefore needs coolant feed and return lines as well as oil feed and drain lines, along with a calibration for the new turbocharger.

The super core 851154-5004S, with compressor housing fitted, the 740902-0012 GT35R turbine housing kit in 0.63 A/R, and a gasket kit. Garrett ships the core and housing separately and the owner assembles them. This super core replaces the earlier 836047-5002S.

Description

Garrett GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit, 0.63 A/R T3 Inlet V-Band Outlet

Garrett’s GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit in 0.63 A/R T3 form is the most response-focused way to run Garrett’s 66mm GTX35 Gen II compressor, pairing super core 851154-5004S with the smallest T3-inlet GT35R housing on Garrett’s list, kit 740902-0012. Garrett rates the GTX3582R Gen II at 450 to 900 horsepower on 2.0L to 4.5L engines. The small housing helps a 2.0L to 2.5L engine bring a compressor this size on boost, at the cost of backpressure near the top of the rating. A T3 tubular manifold with an external wastegate is the intended partner. Engines over 3.0L, or builds near 900 horsepower, should look at a larger A/R.

Features

Gen II compressor wheel with a 66mm inducer, which Garrett says supports up to 20 percent more horsepower than Gen I
Fully machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory and opened with a 5mm Allen key
0.63 A/R free-float housing with a T3 inlet flange and V-band outlet

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 6662
Compressor inducer and exducer: 66mm and 82mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 68mm and 62mm
Turbine housing: 0.63 A/R, T3 inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate: External (free float)
Bearing system: Dual ceramic ball bearing, water-cooled center housing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 130,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

GTX3582R Gen II super core 851154-5004S with compressor housing
GT35R turbine housing kit 740902-0012, 0.63 A/R, T3 inlet and V-band outlet
Gasket kit

Applications

The GTX3582R Gen II Assembly Kit is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 2.0L to 4.5L
Power range: 450 to 900 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Manifold requirement: T3 turbine flange with an external wastegate

Notes

Ships as an assembly kit: super core and turbine housing kit in separate boxes, bolted together by the installer
An external wastegate is required, because this turbine housing has no internal wastegate
The GT and GTX version of the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 130,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
More housing sizes for this core are in the GTX3582R Gen II range

Additional Information

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
