Why buy a reverse rotation GTX3076R Gen II Super Core?

To build a mirrored twin-turbo system. Pairing a standard core on one bank with this reverse rotation GTX3076R Gen II Super Core on the other lets both compressors and turbines face the same way relative to their bank, which keeps manifold and intake routing symmetrical. Single-turbo engines do not need it.

What is the GTX3076R Gen II horsepower rating?

Garrett rates each GTX3076R Gen II at 400 to 750 horsepower on engines from 1.8L to 3.0L, so for a twin-turbo engine apply the rating per bank. Garrett calculates it from compressor choke flow as potential flywheel horsepower, and the finished figure depends on the engine and calibration.

Can I use a standard rotation turbine housing on it?

No. A reverse rotation core needs a reverse rotation turbine housing. Garrett lists 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R reverse housings with V-band inlet and outlet for the GTX3076R Gen II. None has an internal wastegate, so each bank also needs an external wastegate.

How does it compare to the reverse rotation GTX3071R?

Both use the 60mm GT30 turbine and the same reverse rotation housings. The GTX3076R moves from a 54mm to a 58mm compressor inducer and from a 650 to a 750 horsepower rating, so it suits a twin-turbo build chasing more top-end power, at some cost in boost response.

Is the maximum speed different from the standard core?

No. Garrett lists 145,000 rpm as the maximum allowable speed for the GTX3076R Gen II on both its standard and reverse rotation pages. A Garrett speed sensor in the compressor housing port is the way to confirm a twin-turbo tune keeps both turbochargers below that speed.

Description

Garrett GTX3076R Gen II Super Core, 58mm Reverse Rotation

Garrett’s GTX3076R Gen II Super Core in reverse rotation spins opposite to the standard GTX3076R, which lets a twin-turbo engine mirror its turbochargers bank to bank. Garrett rates it at 400 to 750 horsepower per turbocharger on 1.8L to 3.0L, so a matched pair suits a twin-turbo V6 or V8 aiming well past 800 horsepower in total. The compressor is the same 58mm Gen II wheel as the standard part. On a single-turbo engine it is the wrong part, and on a mild twin-turbo street car the GTX3071R pair will come on boost sooner.

Housings for Reverse Rotation

Garrett lists three reverse rotation GT30 turbine housings for this core: 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R, each with V-band inlet and outlet and no internal wastegate. That makes the exhaust side an external wastegate layout on both banks. Standard rotation turbine housings, including the wastegated T3 kits, do not fit a reverse rotation core.

Features

Mirrored rotation for twin-turbo layouts, with the same 58mm Gen II compressor as the standard core
8mm dual ceramic ball bearing cartridge
Speed sensor port machined into the compressor housing

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5855
Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 76mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Maximum turbocharger speed: 145,000 rpm
Rotation: Reverse

Applications

The GTX3076R Gen II Super Core in reverse rotation is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it per turbocharger:

Engine displacement: 1.8L to 3.0L
Power range: 400 to 750 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Garrett reverse rotation kits: 0.61, 0.83 and 1.01 A/R V-band free float

Notes

The turbine housing is not included and must be a reverse rotation housing
Each reverse rotation housing is free float, so an external wastegate is required on every bank
The Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 145,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
