Is the GTX3076R Gen II Assembly Kit in 1.01 A/R too big for a 2.0L?

For most street 2.0L engines, yes. The 1.01 A/R is the largest V-band housing Garrett lists for the GTX3076R Gen II Assembly Kit and delays boost compared with the 0.61 and 0.83 A/R options. It makes most sense on larger engines or high-rpm builds aimed near the 750 horsepower rating.

What does a larger A/R change?

A/R describes the size of the turbine housing passage relative to its radius. A larger A/R slows exhaust gas less, so backpressure falls and the engine breathes better at high rpm, while the turbine needs more exhaust flow before it makes boost. Choose by displacement and the rpm the engine uses most.

The kit has three parts: the 851154-5001S GTX3076R Gen II super core with compressor housing, the 740902-0034 GT30R turbine housing kit in 1.01 A/R, and a gasket kit. Core and housing ship in separate boxes and are joined by the installer.

What engine displacement does Garrett recommend?

Garrett lists the GTX3076R Gen II for engines from 1.8L to 3.0L, rated at 400 to 750 horsepower. The rating comes from compressor choke flow and is potential flywheel horsepower. With this large housing, the upper half of that displacement range is the natural fit.

Yes. Any change of turbocharger this size requires a calibration for fueling, ignition and boost control, and the external wastegate needs to be set to match. Garrett also recommends a speed sensor so the tuner can keep the shaft under 145,000 rpm, and the sensor kit is sold separately.

Description

Garrett GTX3076R Gen II Assembly Kit, 1.01 A/R V-Band Free Float

Garrett’s GTX3076R Gen II Assembly Kit with the 1.01 A/R V-band housing is the high-flow end of the GTX30 Gen II range, built for engines that need the turbine side to keep up with a 58mm compressor rated to 750 horsepower. It combines super core 851154-5001S with GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0034, a free-float V-band housing that runs with an external wastegate. The large housing suits a 3.0L engine or a high-revving build focused on peak power. On a 2.0L street engine it builds boost later than most owners want, and the 0.83 A/R makes more sense there. Garrett ships core and housing separately with a gasket kit.

Features

Gen II compressor wheel with a 58mm inducer, which Garrett says supports up to 20 percent more horsepower than Gen I
Fully machined speed sensor port, plugged from the factory and opened with a 5mm Allen key
1.01 A/R free-float housing with V-band joints at both ends, clockable to the manifold and downpipe

Specifications

Garrett turbo reference: 5855
Compressor inducer and exducer: 58mm and 76mm
Turbine inducer and exducer: 60mm and 55mm
Turbine housing: 1.01 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Wastegate: External (free float)
Bearing system: 8mm dual ceramic ball bearing
Maximum turbocharger speed: 145,000 rpm
Rotation: Standard

What’s Included

GTX3076R Gen II super core 851154-5001S with compressor housing
GT30R turbine housing kit 740902-0034, 1.01 A/R, V-band inlet and V-band outlet
Gasket kit

Applications

The GTX3076R Gen II Assembly Kit is not vehicle specific. Garrett sizes it by engine and output:

Engine displacement: 1.8L to 3.0L
Power range: 400 to 750 horsepower (Garrett rating)
Manifold requirement: V-band turbine flange with an external wastegate

Notes

Ships as an assembly kit: super core and turbine housing kit in separate boxes, bolted together by the installer
An external wastegate is required, because this turbine housing has no internal wastegate
The GT and GTX version of the Garrett speed sensor kit is sold separately
Garrett states that running above 145,000 rpm is at the owner’s risk and can cause damage and premature failure
More housing sizes for this core are in the GTX3076R Gen II range

The Bulletproof Automotive website contains many thousands of products purchased in multiple different currencies. All of the prices are entered manually and accurately at the time of entry. Due to the consistently fluctuating international exchange rates, at times prices may not be able to be honored at their original intended rate. Shipping Policy

Items that are in stock in the US, either at Bulletproof’s warehouse or at a supplier’s warehouse, are generally delivered within 7-10 days. Special order items from overseas take considerably longer. As a courtesy Bulletproof offers delivery estimates to our customers which take into consideration manufacturer availability and shipping schedule. These estimates represent our best guess based on previous orders from the manufacturer and do not in any way imply a guaranteed delivery window. Many manufacturers work in a “just in time” inventory system and often take 2-20+ weeks to produce an item once an order is submitted. All deliverable items are then sent to our Japanese warehouse. Bulletproof ships a minimum of one full ocean freight container every month from Japan, oftentimes more than one a month. Ocean freight takes an average of 4 weeks. Typically it breaks down to one week in Japan for paperwork and customs, two weeks by boat and one week in US customs/clearance. Due to the wide number of variables between manufacturer and shipping schedules, delivery estimates are simply just that – estimates. We attempt to estimate conservatively and we usually deliver faster than our estimates suggest. It is not Bulletproof’s policy to guarantee delivery time of any special order item, this is impossible for us to do. By ordering you acknowledge that there is no required delivery ETA and an order may not be canceled or altered due to manufacturing or shipping delays, all ETA’s are provided as a best guess only. BP Pricing Difference

We do pricing a little differently on our JDM brands and we believe in making things simple and clear. No hidden fees or surcharges. Every price you see includes the shipping cost to our office in Los Angeles, California and all the associated taxes/duties/fees for bringing the products into the US. The only shipping you ever pay is from our facility in the US to your location. Be wary of resellers that don’t include the cost of international shipping in their pricing on JDM parts. While we believe we’ll always have the lowest all-in price on JDM products, we offer a price match guarantee for all authentic parts purchased from authorized dealers as well. For many international customers, it’s much more affordable to ship from the USA than from Japan directly, as the air freight and ocean freight costs are typically much less. However, for customers looking to ship directly from Japan outside of North America, or domestically in Japan, we can provide pricing specifically for that scenario. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any pricing questions or concerns. Please email us at sales@bulletproofautomotive.com with any inquiries.
